My loaner MINI
My mini went into the shop for its last warrantee service. With a dead battery and a window that wont move its getting fixed with about 49,500 miles of motoring.
Warrantee over I want a new mini. They gave me a loaner. Its an 07 MCS convertible in automatic.
Top down just like I was supposed to.
ITs more fun than a date with the wife. I like my wife so thats a lot. I always wanted a convertible but never thought I would use it top down. Well when its not 95 during the day its great. Mornings and evenings here in fla are perfect wether for it.
The down side to the soft top is noise. Its so noisy that I cant talk on the phone on the highway.
I hated the auto at first. It shifts poorly. Its clunky. Its slower. Noiser. gas usage is 3 mpg less than my MCS.
But after a while I got to using the paddles. There alright. While not as smooth as the stick and still not as fast it does create the opportunity for more spirited driving which is why most of us buy a mcs. No its not cuz its cute.
One big plus for me was the loss of the auto ac. I have auto ac and never thought it worked well. The manual one is great. Leave it on cold and pick the blower speed. Much easier but not as cool looking.
Where is the boot. Man 5 square feet does not go far by any means does it.
I also do not like the antenna placement on the convertible. Just looks silly.
All said I want a MCS convertable. Looks like i need to go talk to the dealer.
Whats a 05 MCS worth with 50k on it?

FYI, you can use the Auto AC as a manual by pushing the fan speed buttons. You can pick whatever blower speed you want and leave it there.
Here's someone here in Orlando with a MINI similar to yours except it's an 04 and he hasn't had much luck selling it at $18K
