I got out of my car after the commute last night and saw that the trim piece along the top of the windscreen had come loose. A large section was out and lying in a loop on the front edge of the roof. I stuffed the piece back in and think I have an idea of how to seal it back in place more permanently, but I was pretty upset to see this. Made the MINI feeler even cheaper than usual!

I really don't want to deal with another "unscheduled" visit to the dealer. Taking the car in for all these little issues is such a pain! Definitely the worst part of MINI ownership, from my perspective.

Anyone else experience this problem? Fixes?

(ok, so I did hit 90+ mph at several points , but still...)

Like I said, I'm getting tired of going to the dealer for these little things. I'm going to do this one myself with a little silicone.

Mine is a 3/02 build. Definitely no adhesive used.

Happened to me, too, at around 3000 miles. I was driving across the desert in 85+ weather, doing about 90 for quite a stretch. When I called the dealer, he said to pop it back in and come see him. I did that, but it came out again right away. I finally stopped and pulled the rest of it out before losing the whole piece to the road. Dealer fixed it the next day with some adhesive.

He said that it wasn't a common problem, but it wasn't unknown, either. I think all you need is some kind of caulk-like adhesive when you put it back in.
