painting the heatshield... eh?

So, I'm going to be purchasing a promini/bmp intake and was thinking about the look of all that shiny metal under the hood. I decided the look was a little flashy and that some of this...

might take care of it. krylon high heat radiator spray in black. my question would be this, do any of you have advice as to how best i should apply this stuff? or do you have a better product to use? any advice appreciated, thanks!

I would be sure to prep the surface by sanding it.

I have this intake and the first thing I did was grind down that "toothpaste weld" as best as I could and then I polished the whole thing again. I tought I would not like the stainless but I like it just fine.
