Seattle's Club MINI, founded on August 22, 2002, is going to be celebrating its first anniversary!

Saturday, August 23, 2003
6 p.m.
7120 18th Avenue SW, Seattle (use MapQuest).

There will be an anniversary party held outdoors at the home of Steve and Wendy Hughes-Jelen in West Seattle. They think they can fit more than 12 MINIs in their driveway and would like to see if they're right. The evening will end in a sunset drive around Alki Point...and back, so you can enjoy the lights of the city at dusk.

Look for the big green trees with the green house and green mailbox under it, and a green MINI in the driveway (see a theme here?). The house is on a quarter acre lot, so there's plenty of room for everyone. Please join us! If the driveway happens to be full, there is street parking on the next block to the north.

PLEASE RSVP SO WE CAN PLAN FOR FOOD. Email GRNSTRK@pensandpixels.com with the number of people in your party, how many burgers and how many dogs.

On the menu:
Provided: Burger and dogs, green salad, chips and natural sodas.
~ If you have something different you would like cooked over the fire, please bring it along.
~ If you would like to bring something to share, your food or beverage contribution is more than welcome (no alcohol)
~ If you want guaranteed seating, you better bring a lawn chair!
Donations to defray the cost of food will be accepted, but not expected.

On the agenda:
~ Formation of a "Steering Committee" to guide the club through membership growth and organized event participation. Know of a neat drive or day tour that others might enjoy? Have any autocross event management experience? Do you have any web design experience? Have a cool t-shirt idea? This club needs special people who drive special cars and possess special talents. We need people who are good at winning friends and influencing other people. Please share your experience with the group - it looks great on your resume! No volunteers, no fun, it's that simple.

~ Wendy proposes giving Club MINI a makeover, beginning with....a name change (oh, horrors!! Please don't shoot me.). I know change is difficult, but please consider "NW New MINI Drivers Club". It says where we are, what we are, and who we are. It will be easier for new MINI owners to find us. And http://www.nwnmdc.com is available. If any founding members are absolutely married to the old name, please speak up. Otherwise, I would like to take the next six months and transition our bulletin boards, web site, photo logs, etc., to the new web site (web master needed). Please think about it and be prepared to discuss at the party.

~ The next MINI Cooper Meetup is Saturday, September 6, 1 p.m. We're looking for something to do! If you don't want to get stuck bowling, please suggest an activity for the group!

We hope to see you on August 23rd!
