Looking for a mid size SUV for the Wife. Need opinions
When I read " Looking for a mid size SUV for the Wife ", I thought it read...
"I'm looking for a mid size wife for my SUV". Several thoughts popped right into my head:
1. Okay, some guys like their women with considerable meat on their bones.
2. Trying to match a woman to the SUV is pretty silly.
3. Looking for a wife here on the MINI board is pretty sly.

I really like the looks and flexibility of the new Wrangler Unlimited

I was in the same position and got the wife a Landrover Freelander. Had a hard time deciding, and also looked for a Mercury Mariner & well equipped Escape they are all about the same size. I didnt like the liberty as they are larger and feel like a 'big suv'. Highlanders cost too much, Suziki's dont feel well refined im sure i have more reasons for the other small utes out there but the Freelander landed in our lap. The hood latch is on the right, the window controls are in the middle. Our garage is very british now, lol. Ive seen some Rav4's that look good (must have hood scoop) and I generally like the way they drive - no one is doing serious offroading in these things anyhow so 4x4 capabilities shouldnt matter. Good Luck!
it also gets 10-12 mpg average, but it's only $40K and beats any other suv available in every performance dept.

10 MPG??? Thats insane. Wait until this summers $4 gas
After a lot of looking a couple of years ago, we ended up with a Murano. It's been a great car for us so far, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Plenty of power, decent mileage (around 21MPG with a 50/50 mix of city/highway), and a nice, comfortable interior.
The only negatives are that they needed to put better soundproofing in the roof to deaden the sound when it rains, it has a large turning radius (like every other Nissan
), and I hate the fact that every third car around here is also a Murano
I loved the feel of the FX45, almost as much as my Q45, but it had zero rear visibility, and it's much closer to being a car that looks like an SUV than an SUV that looks like a car.

Murano is a nice choice. my neighbor that previously had an AltimaSE
got that a few months ago. She loves it.

Sad, because I'd buy it otherwise....too much hard plastic
