There are always big gaps like this along the campus road - my school paper even did an article recently about how students should not leave gaps - it's a big commuter campus people come and go all day long. It isn't like cars pull in at 8 am and stay parked all day. It's good for parking the MINI!

PS - I know my car is dirty.

Uh, Before you walk away, you left you windows open. Or are your front windows clean?

I can parallel park perfectly

Here's the steps to a perfect park job:
1) Remove shoes
2) Fluff pillow
3) Plop on couch
4) Scootch around to get comfy
5) Have good book handy
6) Consider yourself perfectly parked in a parallel position (parallel to the floor that is)

A bit of a condescending tone there ... I assume your opinion is better than their opinion? How are they going to talk on the cell phone, put on the makeup, and drink their coffee if they got to worry about minor details like parralel parking

When I got my first drivers license (Granted it was the middle part of the last century) parallel parking was a Florida requirement. Drivers Ed was a mandatory High School class for those wanting to drive at 16 (we all looked forward to watching “Signal 30” and “Mechanized Death” plus others).

I got mine 5 or 6 years ago. We now get our learners permit at 15. There was no mandatory drivers ed (my HS didn't even offer it) and my insurance wouldn't have been lower if I had taken it. During the test, I had to complete a 3 pt turn in an area that I could have pulled a u-turn. The whole thing took place in a parking lot...I think I made it over 20 mph once for the emergecy braking maneuver. It's a joke.

My best friends little sister is in the process of getting her license and their parents had her go to a real driving school where they teach avoidance maneuvers and have a skidpad so kids learn what happens when they loose control. I would have loved to go to that

Well some things have changed, others haven’t… We also had learner’s permits but if I remember correctly they were available at 14, don’t quote me on that (Many years, biers, college and ah.. ago). Of course there were those who drove to there Drivers Ed classes, don't ask, don't tell. In addition to class room studies, there was a course set up in one of the parking lots next to the school; part of the skills test was to be able to operate a manual transmission (what a concept). The big running joke in those days was “Save the South, Teach a Yankee to drive”. Now.. here in California … we won’t want to get into that…

i learned to drive/park on a 1976 Buick Regal ... which is about twice the lenght of a MC ... I can park my MC with literally an inch to spare in front and back ... and without touching the cars next to me ... many a dropped jaws in the last few years.
