Car Trader/Truck Trader

Does anyone have any experience selling their vehicle using either one of these? We are ready to unload our 4th vehicle, it sits most of the time, just gathering dust, yet we still have to insure it,etc. We are not in any hurry to sell, just want a decent price. If there was a CarMax anywhere near, I'd try that, but no such luck.

I have used these but my best luck has been putting it at some parking that gets alot of traffic on lot Fri. nite and pick-up Sun. eve. Put the info in the window and let people look on their own.

I am in the Atlanta area and have sold 3 cars using Auto Trader with great success. Two of them were before they had the website so they were just listed in their magazine (still found at convenience stores). The added benefit of the website is a definite plus. I sold my wife's last car (Pathfinder) to Car Max which also worked out well. They gave me about $2800 more than the Nissan dealer offered. It just depends on the vehicle. They offered about $4500 less than what I think my BMW will bring. In my experience Car Max is not a bad way to go for higher mileage cars in good condition.

Selling my husband's Dodge pickup, it's a 1994 with 68700 original miles which gives you an idea of how much we use it .
He had it when we got married, but I had my 4yo son when we got married and since the truck has a bench seat, I wasn't comfortable letting him ride in it. So we always took my car, then our daughter was born and it became even less practical. Of course I always feel sorry for it sitting there not getting used .

Have you tried Craigslist? The one in Boston is fantastic; don't know about the Georgia incarnations. Are you near Atlanta?

Oooh, Craigslist. I've never used it but am always hearing about it. I'm just outside of Atlanta, so great idea! Thanks!

Alrighty then, little tip. Don't try craiglist.com, it's craigslist.com. Notice the extra S. I made this little typo my first try and ended up in a very un-seemly place in cyberspace and couldn't get out !! Being stared at by a screen full of nipples is pretty unsettling Needless to say I figured out my mistake rather rapidly and found my way to the correct site, whew!
