Or are you one of those guys with a car in every port?
#52
daily driver can be. lol!
so i took my car in this morning. the rattle/clunk noise was not doing
as much (go figure, huh? ) since it only does it on warm/hot
days and it was chilly this morning...regardless, service guy rode around
with me, jotted down some notes, and took it in. parts are ordered, got
my car back washed. (daily drivers are okay to be washed
by the dealer).
should have this issue resolved by next week. hopefully....

well the truth is, even 'ultimate driving machines' can catch a similar ailment...
when I took delivery of my 335 coupe, there was a tiny ding [ ] on the ultra-prominent crease line on the passenger side, for which the dealer promptly engaged their resident 'dent-wizard' to correct by appointment... so he does a fantastic job with no residual external evidence, and they assured me in advance that the dealer would remove the back seat side panel to allow access, and then re-install it after it was de-dinged......
but guess what?- the tech damaged the fiber optic orange mood lighting strip in the back side panel so it no worky anymore....
ok, bring it back in, this time, while the tech ascertains what is wrong, he gets black smudges all over the headliner and they subsequently order a part from the motherland....
bring it back again they say, the part is in and they will car spa my interior for free.... well the new fiber optic strip fails to work out of the box, but they are successful in cleaning the headliner....
weeks go by, I call "wassup-??? "... oh yeah, your part is in! make another appointment.
So who wants to speculate on what will happen next Thursday when I take it in? Will they fix it or break it more?
ok, now back to our regularly scheduled hijack banter of unrelated automobilism....

BTW, I just read a thread where someone owned a CS AND a 335i

bart- yah, i still have that unresolved a/c issue on my MCS as well...
just part of bimmer ownership, perhaps? not that in your case it
was the manufacturer, but more of the techs working on your car.
my case, these are all manufacturing defects/shortcomings.
ive seen teenagers install stereo systems at circuit city with better
results then what you've described. no scratches, no nothing.
it's sad to see trained professionals charging over $100/hr damage
new cars.
im starting to think the Fits are kinda cool... ive been eyeing that
GTI wagon for a while, but not sure. it's going to be too small to
carry large items anyway vs my legacy, perhaps i should just get
the Fit.

if I've ever seen a dorkier car, I'm having trouble thinking of it now....
Chows, I estimate those Smarts will be $15-$18 in reality unfortunately
(based on the BartMack unsupported speculation principle)

yah, i wish...i see so many in Canada. very cool.
unfortunately im looking for something that can carry my kids
and wifey and me with some room for convenince items... like
strollers and diaper bags and such.
i have to say the level of service i got today has convinced
me to consider getting a honda for the 'other' daily driver.
the civic was originally leased to be used by the wife..and i
was to get my Legacy back when she was done traveling
crazy miles everyday (I own the Legacy). now she's almost
done i get my Legacy, but it's all scratched up, damaged by
the subaru dealer, and hvac not working properly.
i think it's time kenchan gets something new.

its just a A to B car.
still no good?

ie the next gen Xb looks like it would leave the Fit bleeding in a dark alley...
seriously, it's your money + decision, but I would never

you won't ever have any trouble mistaking me for a Toyota fan, but in the inexpensive cool realm I have to give Scion an 'acceptable' rating

seriously, it's your money + decision, but I would never
league in a backwards way. lol the pocket change price is
what's been catching my eyes... if it provides the similar convenience
as my legacy, 100x better service at the dealership, why not get a
new car with MT and save money on gas even?
#65
get that, i would get the GTI wagon... much cooler ride, but more expensive.
im just not sure about the durability/reliability of those cars. im sure
i'll like it though, but the bad mpg and premium gas would be a pita
as far as maintenance cost as far as daily drivers. i dont care how
fast they are. i just want convenience, good mpg, a nice stereo, MT,
and at least fun to drive.

Of course, dealers might mark them up.
But for $15K, Ken can get a new Corolla

gas was $3.47 for regular... $37.5 to fill up my civic from about 1/8 left.
(i think it's either a 13 or 14 gal tank). I can get about 450miles per fill
up on surface roads which is about 34-35mpg. ($0.08 per mile in real world)
premium was $3.89... considering my G has a 20gallon, with 2.5gallons
left it can go as high as $68 per fillup and get maybe 350miles
($0.19 per mile in real world).
Legacy with regular gas, 16gallon fill up costs over $55 which is about
$0.14/mile in real world.
When you look at it per mile, wife was getting over $1300/mn in
reimbursements for the Legacy each month the last 6-7months.
Since I only keep cars up to 30K miles or 3-4yrs max, we
just keep the reimbursements in the bank for future car purchase
and i just do oil changes and easy maintenance.
Legacy: $0.14/mile x 3000+ miles = $420 spent in gas/month
($880/month x 6 = $5280 saved in bank)
If she used the Civic: $0.08/mile x 3000+ miles = $240 spent in gas/month
($1060/month x 6 = $6360 saved in bank)
That's a difference of $1080 if she would've had a more fuel efficient
car... that's huge considering she's not doing anything different between
the civic and legacy. plus on a Honda, you get good resale value...
basically what im saying is that i made a mistake to let her use the
Legacy.

Bart-btw, im not going to do the Fit. it's too small.
either GTI wagon (has been my first choice for a while), or the Element SC both in MT, ofcourse... or just live with the legacy.
i called my dealer trying to setup my actuator fix appointment
only to have them hang up on me when they transferred the call.
wtf, subaru. lol
