Lotus Elise...
This is one Elise that I wouldn't mind owning (I normaly don't care for the Elise). Note, that's no Toyota four cylinder in there!

Yup, must have been that one. The problem with the mini truck is at 6'2'' I can't scoot the seat back enough to get my shins off the parcelshelf & knees away from the steering wheel. No problem in my 67 salon, it just looks like I'm driving from the back seat.
Oh yeah, Lotus thread. My brother recently got rid of his second Mini to get a replacement auto-x car...........A Green Elise.

I was taking a look through the website and I was wondering if most of them can or are road legal in the US. For instance, the 1971 Triumph GT-6? or the TVRs?
... I just saw the E-Type.
Now all I have to do is convince my fiance that it's better than a wedding or rob a bank...

I don't care for them much at all. Yea, fun, but kinda annoying. I drove one at the Glen and thought it was OK. I'd much rather have a track prepped Porsche 914/6. But that might just be my age talking. I used to own a couple so I may be a bit biased.
I'd love to buy this one. I would very much like to have a track 914 along with my Mini. It's a plan ....

For some reason this thread keeps messin up my computer. Imiges don't want to load up. Wonder if it's the pics from wirewheel.com that are the problem. I deleted the one of the Elise.
Anyone else, or is it just me?

I know Hayes Harris (owner of Wire Wheel) and bought two cars from him - a 1971 Lotus Europa and my (1973) Mini Cooper. I miss 'em both!
I wrote a story for the national Lotus publication about that car or it's sister car and their American debut at the FIA Fall event at Sebring in 97 with Jan Lammers and others driving. Good times, slow car. Two years ago at Sebring they were trying it again in the 12-hour race, poor thing lasted maybe 2 laps...
Hayes is a super guy and is absolutely trustworthy. What a great site and guilty pleasure of mine. Does he still have the Lotus Cortina? Man, I want(ed) that so bad I can/could taste it...

Since he's been in business, I've bought two more directly from Hayes: a '69 S2 Europa and a '74 Europa Twin Cam. Both sight unseen and both very nice cars.
Funny...we have a long-time family friend who has a '70 S2 Europa. When I saw it for the first time last year, I was in love. He's been *trying* to sell it for years but usually talks the person out of buying it
because he knows they'll destroy the car and/or kill themselves. He knows I'm a car guy (who respects the cough*genius*cough of Mr. Chapman) so I've got a good chance of buying the car from him within a year or two. I can't wait.
