Fantastic shape, great specs, but once again BMW NA gives us lowly Americans so little choice. Where is the high output N/A 3.0L? Nice to see they bumped up the detuned 3.0L to 230hp but com'on guys. It would have been great to not have to resort to forced induction to get over 230hp.
That said I'm still very impressed. I've had three 3 series coupes over the years and this one looks like it'll slot in line nicely.

Well, I like that the headlights are less pointy and Dame Edna then the sedan (and 5/6 series), and that they worked to keep the grills proportionate and in line with the headlights a la the classic look of the bimmers (vs the drooping grill of the Z4s, 6s), I'm sure it will perform well and its not bad for the new Bangled look, but I'll miss the thick chunky look the prior ones had. Even back to the E30 the 3 series, coupes and sedans really, had this blunt, brick-like aggressive presence that I like and seems classically, strongly BMW. This new iteration really does evoke the Mercedes with the hard deep affected lines of the 'flame surfacing' thrown in.
On a minor note, its too bad they have been cutting out the amber turn signal lamps in the rear (whited out or not) among all the cars. And it is funny that with the design of the rear lamps the badge doesnt even seem to fit in the right position.

On second look it does look like the turn signal is amber, it seems to be the sliver at the bottom of the lamp. The shape of the rear lamps on both the sedan and coupe are not my fav, they reflect the more squeezed out extruded shape of the E90 trunks though I guess, vs the squarer lines of the prior 3ers.
I dissent. Chris Bangle has added all those creases and slab sided features which ruin the smooth, slick contour of the E46 design. The Z4 initiated these features. I don't care for it at all. Mercedes has gone the opposite direction. Maybe that was the plan, to offer something different. I think Bangle has bungled.
The lines of the car are nice however I wish they would have made it just a little more aggressive however, I'm assuming that will show in the E90 M3.
The 335 Coupe has 300hp w/ 300lbs of torque 100% of that from 1500 rpm to 4500 rpm.........put that into perspective the E34 M5 which some say is probably the best BMW ever produced put down 296lbs torque over 4000rpm and the e46 M3 294lbs over 4000rpm. The tuning possiblities are there........so on paper it does look promising however, final judgment will be made when I actually have a chance to drive the car.
