Buying car on Presidents day

Today I helped my parents buy a camry at a toyota dealer. Now I liked to know if anyone ever bought their car during presidents day or any other holiday with big sales.
I needed to negotiate for the lowest price possible just like any other day. I thought their might be some benefits to shopping Today but there weren't any. Just big long lines because everyone else is buying a car.
I could have gotten the same price if I negotiated last week or next week. Why buy on presidents day or any other holiday? I now learn my lesson never to shop for a car during the busy times.

I thought President's Day was the big furniture-buying holiday!

End of the month, so anther week would have helped, but its a camry and when I went with my parents they weren't able to negotiate much there ethier, but we did get a free year of roadside and warranty for buying the first year of the two year deal. I very much got the feeling that Toyota was like a grocery store. When I went for the MINI it was a thurs. night, I mean it was dark more than half the time we were there and my negotiating chip was you need to make it x affordable to fit my budget so you can sell the car, they helped me hit that mark through having several banks for financing, far more than the toyota dealer and I paid sticker, got floor mats a tank o gas and a free car wash every sat. I own the car as long as I go to that dealer (ohh how I wish all were so kind). The MA knew my sit and did the negotiating for me so he could have the sale it worked out really nice. Ironically, the money guy for lack of a better term was from the place where we bought our toyota a few years earlier, he said that the BMW/MINI/Merc/Rover/Chrysler complex had much better choices than Toyota and he worked with better people, take it with a grain of salt cause he was new and my MA wanted to be sure we were satisfied with his service long before we got a call from MINIUSA. I took from stock and it was almost exactly what I would have ordered and I've been thrilled with both that dealer and the car ever since. Unfortunalty circumstances dictate I'm 1300 miles away and can't go back as often as I'd like at least for now anyway.

Usually end of month and close-outs on a model year's are the
best times to buy a new car in terms of price.

honestly though i dont go for the cheapest price; instead, i go for the best
buying experience. I won't get ripped off, but at the same time, i don't go
haggling like some people do down to the last $100.

so you did fine as long as you didn't walk out of there thinking that you got
ripped off. to me, a car's value is very subjective. street price/msrp is only
a reference. if you think you got a good deal, then who cares. if not, then
do your own maintenance and save money that way.
