Hmm. I wonder if the synchro driving was done at a mile per hour and the film sped up. As for the spinning and sliding together, I would guess the cars are fastened together or the cars are on tracks which are later post-processed out....something makes me think the film processors are the real stunt men here...

ugly little car though.
