Sweet New VW Eos
from VW:
"Golf V/Jetta V-based folding hard-top convertible. Powered by either a 200hp 2.0T FSI or a 250hp 3.2l VR6 FSI for the U.S. market. Arrives in May of 2006 on the North American continent and is expected to be priced just below $30,000 (US dollars)."

I don't much care for the awkwardness of the dash/center console connection, but I do like the two-color interior in general, and it has nice, clean lines with the top up or down.

This VW looks very Euro to me. Almost Phaeton-ish in the rear.
It's not anywhere near as cool as a MINI 'vert though.
BTW Kyle, I noticed your sig, and I don't think there will be a 2007 MINI Cooper convertible...
Usually when a new generation comes out, convertibles are at least a year further off... you might have to get a 2006 or wait until 2008..
Unless I've missed some official announcement -?

I read on Motoringfile that they are planning to continue production of the current cabrio even after the introduction of the next generation platform... so there will be an 07 convertible, but it will be the current body style. They don't know for sure which engine it will have.
I dig the way it looks with the top down, but top up on that side view looks awkward to me. I think it's the thickness or height from the base of the quarter-panels (I think that's the name of that part =P) to the top of the hood and/or trunk. Too much space between for my tastes.

If I love the new body style, I'll order the '07 hardtop.....if I hate the new body style, I'll order a 'vert.
Now if they discontinue the massive sunroof for '07, I'll be pissed. MINI, don't do it.
I saw one of these last week in Bulgaria, and I was disappointed. It has the same bulky, bloated *** as the Jetta, and the
whole thing just seems tall and heavy, definitely in a different peer group from MINI or Miata. It honestly didn't seem
much smaller than a Solara, or much sportier.

wow..old thread..
now that i've seen these in person, i'm embarassed to have started this thread.
They are ugly AND bland..and more of a chick car than the Beetle. Another overpriced, poorly styled dissappointment from VW..
I've seen maybe two on the road, so I'm guessing no one else likes it either..
