I think most people who drive the really big SUV don't really worry about the price of gas. No one wants to pay more for gas but again the people who can really afford the Hummers and the Excersions as a rule don't worry about the gas.

If ya have to ask what kind of gas mileage the rig gets....ya can't afford it

BTW, I don't own a SUV but I do own a 36 foot motorhome with a 300HP Cummins Diesel pusher that gets about 6MPG.

My in-laws retired back to the Ozarks in Missouri several years ago. Anytime we go out there in any of our vehicles we get the strangest looks because pretty no one there drives a car. They all drive big extended cab duelies or Suburbans or Excursions, etc. To them, that's just what they drive whether they actually need it or not. I've seen many people pull up to their small 3-4 room house that probably cost them $30,000 with the prices there, but they're driving a $40,000 vehicle that gets 10 mpg and trust me, you have to drive a ways to get anywhere. An SUV or big truck is a real status symbol there, different from the way that they are status symbols in the city, but a status symbol nonetheless. Plus, most of these people make their living off logging or mines or something similar that doesn't pay all that well. I can only imagine how hard they are having it at the moment with gas prices.

I seen a crash test of a Ford F150 a few years ago. Maybe they have improved em, I don't know, but this crash test showed the pick up crashing into a wall at 50mph.

This was a goverment crash test and the truck did not fare well at all. The driver in most cases of a crash of this type was killed.

It seemed the motor just came back into the cab, crushing the driver. The passenger as I recall, fared somewhat better. Only broken legs and a few broke ribs and maybe a skull fracture, but was thought to probably survive

Yep, Ford is supposed to have fixed the "crushed cab" problem for the 06 F150.

God I really hate SUVs.

More so because most people that buy them NEVER use them for anything but personal transportation.
Just my 2cents.
By the way that Was way to funny I have encountered all of those drivers here.
