1955 Mille Miglia 50th

The current Motorsport Magazine has a wonderful article (and an entire insert section) devoted to the 1955 Stirling Moss/Denis Jenkinson Mille Miglia victory. Talk about driving at 10/10!! Moss's memories include crossing a humpback bridge an 70 mph faster than they had taken it in previous practise sessions, and overtaking a twin engine aircraft!! Very extreme stuff...wonderful history...and no seat belts!!!

I am not quite old enough to remember the 1955 Mille Miglia, but read years ago about the event in which they were in a 300SL Mercedes. Perhaps that was in 1955. The preparation of noting the characteristics of the course turn by turn was fascinating as was Moss's absolute faith in Jenkinson's navigation by jottings (not sure if he had really done it on a roll of toilet paper, but legend has it so). I will definitely look up the article.
