That's why the old farts back here don't really gripe to much about the condition of the streets. These big ole land barges that a lot of people drive back here just kind float over all the crap that just rattles your teeth in the MINI.
Yeah....land barges feel no pain....but that sloppy handling is SCARY!

The funniest thing is to watch the P/U and SUVs crawl over bumps and dips. An empty P/U, they never carry anything, really gets bounced all squeehawed on a rough road.

squeehawed, adj. cattywhumpus.

squeehawed! I love it. I've got a Ford Ranger to compliment my MINI but I actually haul stuff in it. Firewood, building materials etc. I have squeehawed it a few times though I also know at least 3 people with full sized pickups, crew cabs, bed liners and you name it, they've never hauled more than a fishing pole in their beasts. One of em wouldn't even use it to help a friend move, "It's too hard to resnap the tonneau cover."

Clover - glad you're home safe and sound!

Worst roads I've encountered in the US were in Detroit. I've driven dirt roads in Australia that were smoother than I94 or 696 in Detroit. 1 week after buying my first car in the US, a 91 Eagle Talon tSi all-wheel drive 5-spd turbo, I hit a pothole that not only destroyed my tire, it actually bent my factory wheel so bad that I had to replace it.

On the California roads, when you cross the state line between Nevada and Cali, you can tell instantly, even as a passenger with your eyes closed, because the road instantly becomes 20 times worse. Right at the border! Way to go on the subtle transition guys!

Oklahoma has got the worst bridges in the USA

I forgot about this one....A poor lady last year died as a result of a large chunk of concrete that fell on her car as she passed under one of our crappy bridges.

She was on the freeway and passed under one of the county bridges when a large portion of concrete fell through her windshield

A few weeks ago the report came out in the local paper that Okla bridges are very dangerous and most are years past due in needing repair
