What was your first car you ever owned?
Ok, we all drive MINI's now (or soon will be) and of course they are the best car ever owned. But what was your first car?
My first car was a 1981 Silver Manual Reliant K. (K-Car)
Boy have I come a long way!

68 buick skylark cost a whole $150 and ran great. That was the first car I owned and actually drove. I had a couple before it that either didnt run or I didnt drive because I had no license yet.
1959 Volvo station wagon bought in 1967. Looked like a miniature milk truck, with a massive oak altar rail for a front bumper and carved flor di lis (sp) framing the license plate. The ultimate hippie ride (when hippies were cool

Black 1980 Mustang 4-speed std... 4 cylinder
Very used. First & WORST car I've ever owned.
Car was a mess. Oil pressure gauge failed right after I got it. I wrongly ASSumed it had burned a bunch of oil and poured in a few extra quarts (hoping to see the needle rise).
Obviously it didn't. ...Was too late to drain it, so I just left for work.
Was accelerating flat out from a traffic light onto a hwy when the car belched out this HUGE cloud of blue gray smoke. I recall looking in the rearview just in time to see a silver-blue Jag convertable (top down) dissapear - enveloped by the cloud. Couldn't see the car at all!
When the Jag emgered its driver - a grey haired elderly gent was shaking a closed fist at me. Not good (but funny)

1957 Ford Thunderbird PB/W/PB (powder blue body/white soft top/powder blue hard top) and PB interior including dash and steering wheel. Oops. And tractionless white walls. High school car. I had forgotten all about it until now. My father bought it used from his friends who lived in Del Mar who, in turn, bought from him the powder blue hard top of his Lancia Aurelia. Guess someone in a paint factory pressed the powder blue button too long. Thanks for triggering a, fortunately, fuzzy flashback.
A light blue, '85 Toyota Corolla... I probably would have killed myself in anything more powerful. Very functional! I loved that little car... probably more for the freedom it gave than the car itself, but it got a fresh coat of wax every 4 months and was washed every weekend.
Ever wonder where the car is now and who owns it?

1988 Red Nissan Pickup. At 158k and is still our second car. Geeez, I'm 40 and I still have the first car I ever owned!
Oh well, a truck is great to have but it is really hard to drive now that I have the MINI.
Cheers,

1988 Acura Integra, handed down to me in '96. I loved that car, very fun to drive! And it got better fuel economy than my Cooper gets.
Mine was sold to a high school girl who one day let her friend drive it, trying to learn to drive stick. They crashed it head-on into a tree, and the girl driving died in the car.
It was really creepy to see the photo in the paper. It still had my bumper sticker on it and everything.

1952 Chevrolet 2dr hardtop purchased in 1957. A true slush-o-matic. I used it to deliver Fuller Brush products when I was in high school. My dad bought it for $300 and I chipped in along the way. Drove it until 1964 with nary a problem. The first car I bought by myself was a 1968 Pontiac LeMans. Bulletproof.
1986 Toyota Tercel hatchback, but the car I had the most fun in was an old 1985 Chevy Sprint. I think that was the car that really got me interested in a MINI. Even though it had a small 3 cylinder engine, it was so light and fun to toss around. Sometimes a slow car driven at it's limits is more fun than a competent car driven much faster.
I also enjoyed the 50mpg - fond memories of that little tin can.

1963 Pontiac Tempest (not the prettiest car!)
with a 326 v-8. Bought it for 50 bucks out of a field in 1979. I was thirteen years old and working at my dad's feed store helping with deliveries. Best thing about it was my dad going over with me after the feed store closed to help me get it running. Drained the fluids, replaced the filters (air, oil and fuel) rebuilt the carb and the old beast started. We got the brakes working too and I had a blast that summer driving it around our feedstore avoiding our cows and the rest of the livestock.

186,000 miles of fun!
. Looking forward to being a ragtop owner again
