Looks like an even tinier Toyota RAV or a super-micro-minivan! LOL!

*Hey! This is post #6,666! Is that evil?

I think fair market value would place it within the $800 - $1,000 range. I suspect they will be asking more than that though.

To be honest...I see more a Scion knock off going on here anyhow. The MINI design is still safe.....

I would like it more if the center of gravity didn't seem so high. Other than that it looks okay to me (...way better than the new Prius which is hideous, imo). The interior is "interesting", too, but I'd sure be suspicious of the materials used. If they can pull something like this together and the build quality is very good (unlikely), then it'd be all right w/ me. I like small cars. The thing with MINI that auto-makers may not get is that, yes, it's cute, yes, it's small.......but yes, its also very well engineered and well-built and a ton of car for the money! THAT's why we love it!

I honestly think that if it weren't for the classic MINI...which set the bar (high) in so many ways for our cars.......any possible BMW attempt would have faltered, too.

I don't think it looks particularily MINIesque.. reminds me more of the xA or Aveo. Regardless, I'm not a fan...

A loud I second this, actually to the whole post, jds. One thing I love about the Mini is that it sits low, has a relatively wide and long wheelbase that adds so much to other engineering making such a fun ride. This one doesn't look that way at all.

Also, total agreement that I don't get how this is said to even look like a Mini. The vehicle doesn't offend me. It just seems like an economical cheap car not that different than others hitting the market (finally) in the US. It might be great for people simply want economy but not in a category to be compared with the Mini.

Doesn't look like a MINI. Microcars were popular in Japan and Europe even before the MINI was built. So what gives?

Yes, I see the similarities. Its not enough to make me consider it a 'knock-off' or 'look-a-like' though. They'll have to try a lot harder if they want to compete with our MINIs

I believe that the 2 cars have some elements in common, but it's certainly a stretch to call it a knock-off...

Furthermore -- we drive MINIs, dammit! We are the "bigger is not necessarily better" crowd and many of us are quick to dismiss a car that will likely enjoy greater sales thanks to the MINI and Scion changing (however slowly) perceptions. Think of it as an homage, think of it as people coming to their senses and finally coming around to the idea of a smaller car, but definitely think of it as a good thing -- nobody said you had to buy one, sheesh!

And rather than focus on perceived lameness of design or 'smokin'" them off the line, consider them bretheren. People who bought the car that they need and not the car that could pack them up and move them and all their belongings to Istanbul on the very unlikely chance that such a thing might be necessary.

Bring on the little cars!
