Chrysler 300C

Who else things the new Chrysler 300C bears a slight resemblence to the demonic car in the movie "The Car"?

I think the car looks like a poor man's bentley for some reason... probably
the front grill.

Jokes aside, I think the 300C (top-end one) is a pretty cool looking near
luxury car for people looking at something like a Lincoln LS.

Actually, it looks like the Were-Car that Bender turned into on Futurama!

Not sure which movie you're refering to. How far back did it come out?
I kinda like the 300C. Looks like a mobster/ganster car. Not into the sedan frame of mind just yet. I'll stick to my MCS for awhile. But that HEMI makes it appealing. And now with the announcement that they're going to kick it up to a 6.1L HEMI from the 5.7L, which will take it up to 425hp, makes even that much more appealing. Boo ya!
Cheers,

I'd already thought they were already a bit like a gangster mobile, kind of like the PT Cruiser's non-poser daddy. Yesterday I saw my first station wagon version (or whatever they market it as being). It really looked aggressive like all it needed was tinted windows and guys with throwback tommy guns inside. Alternatively, with some spinno hupcaps etc., they'd be great pimpmobiles.

But other than my own perceptions and preferences, my understanding is they are supposed to be fairly good cars that should sell well. They just aren't my cup of tea.

You must mean the Dodge Magnum. I like the 300C, but not the Magnum. Looks a little 'off'.

Right, I just look at both websites. It was a Magnum, though I still think the 300 is a bit Goodfellas looking; the Magnum just moreso. It's not as though I am offended by either though. Those of us who drive Coopers, or those "cute little crossbreed Hondas" as a woman at a truck stop once called mine, must suffer lack of understanding more often. We are just seldom confused with mafia hit men. Only joking only joking. Probably a fine car for the right needs and tastes.

Both the 300C and the Magnum (which gets extra props for being a wagon) are growing on me, I like the large flank/broad front look. V8 and rear drive are big bonuses, and the cars themselves are not as huge as they at first appear (the same way a MINI is really not as small as it looks). Definitely not running with the current school of design, Chrysler has been fitting new cars with design cues from 50 years ago, and it looks good IMO.

Seems these cars are getting some decent mileage despite their size and big V8 engines. The Hemi in the cars is fitted with a cylinder cutout system that shuts off 4 of the cylinders at cruise/light throttle, and it is far more sophisticated and (potentially) more reliable than the V8-6-4 debacle from Cadillac many years ago.

And they have one big bonus going for them too... they are NOT SUVs! It's about time a 'real' wagon gets built.

That's awesome. Buncha gangsters squished in a MINI packing heat. Barely have room for one body in the trunk.
And as for the lady there.........."Crossbreed Hondas"???? Damn. Thems be fighting words. But being that it's a woman, I'd have to hold back. But what was she driving? But if she was hot, than I'd let it slide. Being that she was a truck stop though, maybe the chances of that were a little slim. Damn crossbreed Hondas. Buncha haters! That's horrible.
Cheers,

"The Car" 1977.

Yes indeed I'd say the folk at Chrysler are about my age (38) or at least doing a bang up job of trying to market to us by including overt styling cues from movies from our youth.
I'll stick with the Mini. Thanks.

I think Chrysler/Dodge have taken an excellent step with the 300C/Magnum. I think the interior is still a little sub-par, but eventually they'll get it right.

Like the Escalade, I think the 300C is accidentally popular with a different demographic than they expected. When Snoop Dog, and 50 Cent get themselves a 300C, you know every wanna be gangsta will have one.

Ohhhhh yeah. That's right. Thanx for that. I totally remember that one now. Kinda like an old school version of Stephen King's "Christine". Or maybe a cross between Christine and Maximum Overdrive. Pretty cool. Wouldn't mind seeing that again now.
Cheers,

The Green Hornet is where

You will find the car the 300 C (T) is patterned after. BTW, GH and Kato called it "The Black Beauty"... go to http://members.aol.com/meow103476/greenhornet.html

and watch the pictures scroll. You will see it there.

BTW...my daily driver is an '05 300T and regrettably, I get twice as many comments on the looks of this car as I ever did about the MINI...

Other trivia? The GH and the original LR (Lone Ranger) were related...the Reid family.

I am a huge Dodge fan. I only have the MINI because it is so much fun to drive. I do miss intimidating old ladies w/ my Dodge Ram 4x4 though. Even if I weren't a fan, I would have to give it up to Chrysler for the different direction they take sometimes. Not everyone will always like it but it gives up a choice. Now if only GM would do something w/ those bland clay lumps they call cars it might get interesting around here.

Oh, Forgot, my father had a '78 Magnum for a while, everyone thought that was a ganster mobile too. I liked the headlight covers. He stayed pissed at me for months when I lost a hubcap off that thing. You could never confuse the old Magnum w/ the new 300C. PS, I love the rake the new Magnum has. My wife even likes them. We have one here in Jacksonville, FL w/ 22" rims and it actually looks sharp w/ them. Who knew? They say that the fleet sales aren't working out yet because the cars look too nice. Might be cool to see a few w/ light bars on them!

My in-laws recently purchased a Dodge Magnum.. When we go anywhere with them... people always ask "Does it got a HEMI?".... and we get more heads turning than when I drive the MINI.. color may have something to do with it.. their Magnum is red.. The MINI being Silver/Blk blends in

Pretty nice car.. Not my cup of tea... It still seems like a very large car, even after you get used to it.. One thing to note, it has the exact same amount of cargo volume (without the rear seats folded down) as my wife's 2004 Audi A4 Avant!!

Hated it

rented one (300C) last week. Very poor visibility for such a big car

I hear there are some very nice incentives to purchase or lease Jimbo
