Evo X MR
Evo X MR
Hey all,
I had the opportunity last night to drive a friend's Evo X tuned to around 425 HP....and let me tell you, HOLY MOLY!! I would say it's easily the quickest car I've ever driven. I haven't driven many cars in my life but I really didn't expect it to be THAT quick. My MINI has more character IMO and love the way it drives with great gas mileage (his evo gets ~16mpg), but it was almost difficult to go back to having half the power.
Anyone else have any experiences with cars of that nature? Please share

"cars of that nature"... interpreted to mean "fast", we have a Z06 at our house. 505hp, no waiting. But an altogether different experience, of course, than a MINI of any stripe.
My boyfriend has a 400awhp Evo9 that I've driven on many occasions. It's nice, but it only gets around 23mpg if you go all highway. And he drives it so hard, it's often broken. lol. He wanted me to buy an Evo instead of my Mini. He'll never fully appreciate the Mini because, to him, the only good cars are fast ones.
An Evo just wasn't practical for me since I drive 106 miles every weekday for work, and I HATE the size of them...it feels so huge because I'm so used to little cars.
If we're talking 4g63...I much prefer my 325awhp Talon TSi AWD. (I sold it about 3 years ago, sadly.)

I have been in this 2003 Evo at Thunderhill and Fernley Raceway
The power of the awd turbo cars is crazy. I have been behind the wheel of an STI a few times, and it is a lot of fun. Getting it sideways in turns and planting the throttle to straighten it out is the most fun I have ever had driving a car.
Definitely a different experience than any FWD car can offer.

I see EVO?

I've ridden in an EVO like this on the race track. Was also on the track in my MINI at the same time when it was raining, I held my own.
I've ridden in a rally prepared EVO6, on the dirt. That was noisy, to say the least. He kept it shiny side up for me too (unlike his first stage shown here).

I see someone has a Vette. I've ridden behind a Corvette LS2 engine that is in a Miata, 600 less pounds. Kinda scary.

Joining a High Performance Driving type club, volunteering (timing in my case) so you can get an official shirt, makes it easier to get rides. This Arial Atom was fast, but in a simple, sort of quite way.

So I can relate with the excitement of getting a ride in an Evo!
