Opinions on other cars?
I like lots of other cars. I just wish I had a huge bank account and a garage to match. Modern cars i'd like to test drive and maybe own include GTI, MX-5, RX-8, any Porsche, Nissan 370Z, Honda S2000, etc. I won't even go into fantasy garage territory.
I have an 08 Mazda MX-5, my favorite car I've owned. The close 2nd is a 97 BMW M3 for comparison.
Built strong. The 09+ models improved upon the interior. Huge aftermarket support.
Anyone thinking about picking one up, I'd say "go for it."

I absolutely love my 370z. I was considering trading it in when I purchased my mini since I live in the DC area and having two cars makes it somewhat difficult, but then I realized that I just couldn't give that car up. Now I have a car for straight lines, and one for windy roads
I'm seriously considering a GTI. Had an MX5 back in the 90's and enjoyed it but I can fit a buttload of stuff in the boot of my MINI.

right now actually im on the brink of looking for a new car. my cars showing signs of cvt failure... at 42k. Im thinking of the first generation audi tt, in stick. I know the designs a little controversial but i really like it. its not too photogenic but i love the way it looks
Never driven an Audi, but I do like the look of them and I hear they drive great. Always a favorite on Top Gear! If your CVT is going I'd get rid of it ASAP while it's still trade-able!
We had a VW Passat which everything on it was stamped Audi. Be prepared for a lot of expensive problems if you get that.
My wife likes the Juke. I can say we would never get it because it is turbo.
I don't want a turbo car. She has an SX4 which quite frankly is a better car in
every way, it is just 4 door, not 2+2 hidden.
I love the countryman I would like to get one down the road.

The Honda CRX (yes, from the 80s/early 90s) is a fun little car. Generally very reliable as long as it hasn't been modded to death. They have some rust problems, especially in areas where they salt the roads, but the major mechanicals are pure Civic. So there are tons of parts and resources out there.
They're little two-seaters, FWD, with up to 108 HP in stock form. The heaviest stock one weighs just over 2100 lbs, so they can definitely get out of their own way. They are absurdly fun to throw around corners; they are nimble and responsive like a MINI.
You don't want to get into a wreck in one, though. And the newest ones are two decades old, so many of them are pretty badly worn.
I do miss mine sometimes.

I'm sourcing a 01-04 Porsche 996TT when I get back to the States. After that...my car situation is DUN. Already have the Mini, BMW, Touareg and then the 996TT (dream car). I think thats enough for one to two people...
Hey we both have a Mini and a MX-5. Love mine too. Full exhaust and retuned ECU with Mazdaspeed suspension.
