Any Porsche heads on here?

I'm looking for a Porsche-head in the New England area to give me some advice, and maybe a hand at some point, on an Audi 3b (5 cyl 20v turbo) swap into a 924s.

Beer will be provided if your hands are needed. Otherwise you will receive e-kudos for helpful information.

I worked for an all Porsche shop PT for almost 10 years, never once saw anything like this for a swap. The most common swap on a 944 or 924s was to put a Chevy 350 in them. There was actually a shop in Atlanta doing the swaps and they all came out great.
What are you looking to do with this car? and why the Audi engine

The reason I want to do the Audi swap instead of an LS1 or LT1 is simple: I feel like using a Chevy engine in a Porsche is just so wrong! Sticking with an Audi keeps it in that same European realm. Plus I'm a spool-head. And I've never been a huge fan of the American big muscle V8 world. They sound great, and they perform like beasts, but it's just not my deal. A European V8 though...

The car is just for a fun project sleeper. There are no plans on tracking it as of yet. I still have to track down an older allroad for the job. I'm just looking for some insight or maybe anyone who may have slept inside a 924 engine bay for a few years.

Right now I'm just looking to slam it, get some new kicks, and fix up one rust spot (the car is literally mint other than that).

Also, the older Audi 5-cyl drop in much nicer than a lot of other engines. The original 924 WAS an audi venture, and the 944 engine was originally going to be an Audi engine. So a lot of the same parts are used, so it will make the job a little easier.

Well, that's what I was referring to, the fact that it should be an easy bolt up to the torque tube, and the transmission will handle a lot of power. You might research whether the turbo 944 used a different driveshaft than the 944/924S, with the extra power you might need the uprated parts.

For those who don't know, the 924S/944/944T/968 all used a rear mounted transaxle driven by a small solid curved shaft thru a torque tube, very similar to what Pontiac used in the early 60's in the Tempest. Some of those used the 389 V-8 that later became the GTO engine, so the system will definitely handle some torque.

You don't mean the allroad tho, those had the twin turbo V-6, I know cause I have one......I think you meant the 200 Quattro or Turbo 5000.....with the inline 5 cyl.

Weird, last night I was looking 2 for sale on craigslist and they both claimed that their allroads had a 5 cyl turbo… I know next to nothing about older Audis so I probably should have done a little more research. But yeah, I knew they were in the 200 Quattro, but I have had no luck finding one

My next step is to just go the ebay route. Some guy parting out his car and has a low-milage engine, harnessing, comp., fuel management, the whole 9 yards. I only paid 1800 for the car, so if I can get the engine for 1800, after a crap load of work and some fab I'll have a little sleeping beast that can spank most cars

Also, from what I have been reading, a lot of guys have been using the NA tranny even after V8 swaps. I figure I'll do that until I can find a decent 951 tranny. I'll be holding off on pushing a lot of boost until I get the new transmission. A new intercooler will be in order. Bigger injectors too. I have read that the stock internals on the 5-cyl are good for 650HP, so not worrying about the engine blowing out will be wonderful

I'm sure they take it pretty easy on those V8's though… I can only imaging the damage and slipping that occurs on a launch.

A fun little video…
