1988 Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette, one of 105 factory ordered cars that year, black on black.

Mom still has it in the garage, has 4,200 miles.

Been 20 years since I drove it.
Probably 20 more till I get the next chance.

I loved the Lotus Elise, but as much fun as it was, the Porsche Cayman S still beat it out, partly because I didn't have to practice yoga to get in and out, and largely because it just felt more substantial. It was perfectly weighted, beautiful inside, and an amazing drive.

If I had the money, I'd buy one in an instant.

Friend showed me his 05 Lotus Elise... best trip of my life.

100mph onto a freeway 90degree on-ramp, the closest thing to a roller coaster I've ever experienced. Grip was insane.

I prefer the Elise to the Porsche, The Cayman is awesome but just not as pure and connected to the road as the Lotus.

My first new car, a 1967 BMW 1600 Alpina. That car invented the term "Sports Sedan"! It taught me what good handling and balance was all about. It even had disc brakes! Best thing was nobody knew what it was and it would blow the doors off just about anything on the twisties. Porche 912's would gawp when you passed them on the outside! Had it for 9 years, wish I still did. Anyone remember "Say Bay-Emm-Vay and get out of the way"?

PS: Back then, Bimmer's flashed their lights at each other! Sound familiar?

Our '93 Miata closely followed by our '04 RX8. We plan to finally replace the Miata with another roadster in a couple of years. The current or next-gen Miata will be the leading candidate.

OK, so I'm still LMAO at the post of the "180mph Corvette drive", not only was he doing 180, he was so responsible to take a picture of it while he was doing 180 as well.

I loved my 1973 Bmw 2002... That car was a riot and the 2002 drivers still flash headlights and wave at each other

However.. Ive driven a LOT of vehicles and my all time fave was a buddies R32 golf... 4 wheel drifts in the snow.. oh god was it fun.

I've driven a dozen or so different cars. Ranging from a few bottom of the line rentals to a crossover people mover, to a 2 seated convertible. I think the best car (non-MINI) I've driven would be my dad's old RX-8.

I've driven a lot of fun American muscle cars, 1972 Trans Am HO-455 was quite fun, also my 1984 911 Carrera ranks right up there.

When I was in the AF in the UK. I had a Peugeot 309GTI that car was a lot of Fun In the USA I have enjoyed owning a nice 2004 VW R32 (probably the best car I have ever owned ) and I had a 93 Porsche 911 RS america which was Awesome, but very expensive to fix.

r56cooper- yah, ive test driven the 2009 STI and it's a pretty fun car. but the 4 cyliner just lags until spool up so not as fun as a V6 /V8 power plant for that matter. the R56's turbo is much livelier (sp?) for street imho.

my 370Z is fun to drive. it feels very tight and dynamic like a bimmer yet not harsh over bumpy roads. my 5+yr old G35C is also fun to drive.. very relaxing too.

i still want to get a 49cc scooter

I'm in the Cayman S camp also. Had an '06 for a bit over 2 years and hands down the best handling "real" car I've ever driven. I use that caveat because yes a Lotus Elise is more "connected" but anyone who drives one daily has got to have a masochistic streak in them. I sold it because I wanted to go to one car and didn't think I could make the two-seater work but as much as I love my JCW, I've questioned that decision ever since. I'm pretty sure my next car will be either another Cayman, or I might try a 911 just to say I've had one.

a 993 Porsche Turbo with ~650 to the wheels...was a complete animal, fastest thing I've ever felt.

other than that...I find always AMG Benz's entertaining...any one with the 5.4 s/c motor. Driven plenty of SL55's and E55's...they are German muscle cars. Big, Heavy, and a crap load of power. Also got to drive a Stage 5 Renntech CLS55....I'd say it's fun when the back end would come out at 90 mph on the freeway

Yes, never driven a stock one though. They are both a ton of fun...an STi is one of the only cars I could see myself driving right now other than the MINI

The most fun I've had (besides a Mini) was in my MkV GTI. The fun-to-drive factor on that is HUGE.

My GF's S2000 (AP1) is hella fun but it really only gets to shine on track or at an autocross.
