mY new X5!!!!!

I sold my 2 minis both new..er (08R52 S an R56 S) and bought me a X5 35D.
This car is SO NICE!!!!!!!
The first amazing thing I noticed was ITS FAST THAN MY TUNED R56 S!!!!
The diesel engine is quieter than the mini engine and the exhaust tips are SO MUCH CLEANER, NO CARBON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\
I like my mini, but they need to fix the many problems associated with the R 56 S platform before I buy another.
Funny thing is my insurance is cheaper too!!!!
Im taking it to Hamann Motorsports here in Germany, the ECU tune will put out 320hp and over 600 ft lbs.
Goodbye to the hundred$ and thousand$ $pent on BS performance parts that add 1-10 hp.

Congrats on your purchase! I don't think the X5 is even available in diesel here in the states, at least not in California. Kind of sucks. I'm all for high torque clean running diesels.

The X5 xDrive35d and the 335d have been here for a few months now...definitely not like the diesels back in the day, you can barely hear them rattling. As the OP stated, the torque is ridiculous.

On a side note...we just got a X5 M and a X6 M in today at work...twin-scroll twin-turbo 4.4 V8 M engines in each one with 555hp@6,000rpm and 500lb-ft 1500 to 5,650rpm...crazy.

Do you know if they're available in CA? I haven't seen any on the streets, but I haven't looked at the dealerships either. I remember the VW Touareg diesel when it came out in 2004(?) wasn't available in CA, but was available elsewher.

50 state availability

This new X5 Xdrive 35D's are 50 state legal. Its a $3800 option over the regualr gas model but is comes with a $1800 tax incentive!! Its actually a whole second faster than the norm 6 / 0-62 mph.
Its really alarming how effortlessly it makes speed. As we all know you mash the gas pedal in the MINIs and they make good noise and accelerate, this diesel just goes pulling hard with its flat torque line. Theres a little lag if you mash the gas instantly, however if you want to launch hard you just press the break and give it a little gas...then release, Good BYE!!!!

Ill add some pics and Video later today (saturday)

Yep; another confirmation of the X5d in the US. The dealer i work for has had a couple of them; and i've seen them in the service department as well for people that have had them a while.

Just got the new X5M as well; what a MONSTER. Sounds insane as well!

Alrighty then. I'm gonna have to see if I can find a 335d wagon at my local dealer, or anywhere in SoCal for that matter.

I'm not new to diesels, but CA sure is thanks to the smog *****. I'm glad to see more and more of them being sold in CA.

Heres a cool track vid of the X5 going through its pace's. This is borrowed from Edmunds. They got a pretty slow acceleration (7.1?) much slower than mine , (6.7sec) but thats just their driver.

NOT BAD FOR A CAR THAT WEIGHTS OVER 5 grand

The slalom performance doesn't look bad at all. I would have expected a heavy diesel SUV to have much more body roll than what was displayed in that video.

Their test driver seems pretty good. He got really close to those tiny cones without touching them.
