A happy day for me!

Well, my Mustang had been down for longer than I care to admit because of some ignition problems. FWIW, this is a car with a 92 fuel injected 5.0 and a custom wiring harness. All the wires were labelled when it was put together, but all the labelling faded since the 90s when the job was done. So I got discouraged and put it in the garage... Then kids and starting a company took all my time.... Anyway, I tracked down what was wrong (TFI module on the distributor), changed that, got a new battery (old one was at 0.3 volts and wouldn't take a charge) and the effin' thing fired right up! Even on the old gas!

Now I've got to put the dash back together (the guages had gone haywire at the same time, but I'd fixed that, voltage regulator in the dash had died), get it out of the garage, clean it up and go TOPLESS again! This will make up somewhat for giving up my FIAT, and what's funny is that the 5 liter V8 only gets 1-2 MPG worse than my 02 MCS!

Way to go, nothing like getting an engine/car working again. Ignition systems suck, problems with our ignition system kept UCONN FSAE from getting our motor started for weeks! The motor is from the 90s so I am guessing it is some sort of crate motor right? I dont think any of the american car companies where putting out decent motors for production cars at the time. That said, that era is ever so slightly before my time.

I'm laughing at it only doing to MPG worse than the MCS. For a time I was averaging around 15-17 on mine, which is about what my mom's YukonXL does, so I can definitely relate.

Hey, if your sad about selling you FIAT you could go out and buy some sort of Chrysler, I hear their 20% FIAT.

It's good to hear the rumble..

I think in the late 80s to 90s the Ford 5.0 took over from the Chevy 350 as the inexpensive motor to mod. The 350 still is king with carbs, and the newer LS fill in the blanks are really good now for FI setups, but Chevy let thier guard down early in the fuel injection days... It's not a big block, but it goes really well.

As far as Chryslers... Uh Fiats, if the MiTo or the 500 Abarth ess ess comes over, they'll be mighty tempting....
