The 2010 Volkswagen GTI

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/25/o...gen-gti-mk-vi/

Hubba hubba.

The interior shots makes me go crazy. I love the color scheme on the seats. The shift **** looks like something I want to just hack saw it off and put it in my MINI. The steering wheel is what I wish the MINI steering wheel should be. The dash board is awesome looking.... whew...

I see they put the exhaust pipes back in the usual spot instead of the center exit when they were trying to be like MINI.

I think VW did well with the new design. I can't wait for the dubbers to get their hands on them and start slamming them on cool wheels. I'm sure they'll look amazing.

VW's new interiors are really on point. Classy yet sporty. The new CC interior is gorgeous.

When was that? Do you mean the split center exhaust on the MKV r32? The MKV GTi's and rabbits had their exhaust on the left hand side and the MKV r32's didn't really have a center exit exhaust as much as they had a centered split exhaust like VW's big brother the Audi TT. The MKIV had hidden tips and the MKIV r32 had one tip on each side of the car. To sum it up, I'm not sure a VW GTi has ever "tried to look like a MINI with a center exit exhaust" since a gti has never come with a center exhaust like the MINI

I would love a steering wheel like that or something simmilar. Otherwise the car look great but i would still not trade my MCS for one.

No, it was a few of the r32s I had seen locally a while back. Bear with me, I just woke up.

VW interiors have always put MINI's interior to shame. VW interiors look like they are produced with higher quality materials. I wonder if the GTI has gone on a diet? They have tended to be heavy previously. I do like the looks of this both inside and out.

I'm not sure how much the new GTI catches my eye, but the new Scirocco sure does!

I have always been a GTI fan. This car should be a hit, but I think I will be keeping my MINI.

Looks kinda weird to me, too. The interior looks like it was made from a kilt. I have mixed feelings about the wheels, but I definitely like the last GTI better.

Now THIS is a GTI...

It has a V12 6.0 liter. Granted it handles like poo, but I wouldn't complain. And yes, I still think it looks weird.

That's the whole point It's the VW Interlagos plaid. It's a throwback to the original GTi.

Ahh... right on. Doesn't really look bad, but it's not really my taste.

Not really. I don't see where they use higher quality material. It's just our Coopers have such a funky interior design, it kind of throws back the whole logic of "what an interior should be like?" VWs have nice interiors, but so do the Coopers. I'm sorry, but I was highly impressed with my 2003 Cooper's black leatherette seats and the whole futurama plasticky interior. V dubs interiors have always looked so bland to me, except maybe the purple gauges. I like those !!

+1

I read all the posts before looking at the pics, and when I finally looked at the photos I was not impressed at all. I like the interiors of both my 2005 and my 2007 MINIs. The VW doesn't look any better by any stretch of the imagination. That plaid looks cheap.

I have to agree. I think they're both successful in their own ways. The MINI interior is very "cute" and "hip" with a certain flair. The VW interior is "sporty", "clean", and means business.

VW's are all about "bland" in an artistic way. Simple yet effective and beautiful. Almost complete opposite from the MINI style which is cute and in your face with it's styling. Some people like subtle classy styling, some like the sassy and artistic retro styling of the MINI interior.

PS. VW interior lighting is blue

Yeah, I'm not knocking the VWs interior by no means, but Rally said it better by stating they're successful in their own ways. MINI was definitely thinking and going outside the box on their interiors. And it worked, because even if you didn't care for the interior, people still bought the car, and most let the design grow on them. I can't tell you how many times people asked me if my '03s interior was custom done and wanted to know the price. It's definitely different.

As far as the VW's lighting, a coworker of mine had an '03 Jetta, and the gauges were purple. Weird !!!

Love the GTI.

It might be my next car, (it's the front-runner right now).

Something about that GTI just gets to me. I don't really dig the steering wheel in my 04 MCS. It just seems to big and rubs up on my leg when I brake. I always wanted a smaller steering wheel, but a air bag is a must... That GTI steering wheel looks great. The design of the new GTI fits my cup of tea, but so does the MINI.

The steering wheel is really nice, i notice some styling from the CC; but the plaid cloth seats are hideous IMO.

I don't know about that. Maybe my expectations were skewed because of all the praise but huge expanses of black plastic and materials that aren't quite as nice as they look in the pictures disappointed me.

New one looks better though. It's pretty heavily based on the MKV so it should be good in pretty much every way.
