You seen the rear of this thing? To many compromises made by Ferrari in design and styling to create a lower priced entry point with mass appeal. There is some interesting technology, it's the first Ferrari with Direct Injection, seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox and a Lexus like ladder exhaust. But as a modern counterpoint to the original California the styling falls short in my eyes.
Ever since I was a kid, I always thought a Ferrari was art on wheels. What a beautiful car.
#1 While it is not the most beatuful Ferrari ever made, it is still stunning!! To me Ferrari is the pinnacle of the automotive world and all others are competing for second place.
The "Ferrari" in Ferris Bueller's Day Off was actually a kit based on the MGB. After seeing it in the movie, I almost would have been willing to chop up my MGB to build one!

You would think something was up when they dumped out the window

No, the Bueller replica was a custom frame with Ford running gear. I think they may have used a number of vintage parts (mirrors, windshield, etc.) from various makes, but the car underneath was custom and powered by Ford.
That's interesting - I thought the car was made by Modena Design & Research, using fiberglas panels on an MGB chassis, but now I'm finding claims that it was made by Calspyder, using a custom chassis as you described. Everyone seems to agree on the Ford running gear, though.
Oh well - My B is long gone, so it's kind of moot now.
