Do I have to? I couldnt want any car on that list less if I tried
First off in the spirit of cheap and fast $20,000 is a fortune just a couple off the top of my head:
C5 Z06: Its a super car who cares about the interior
Early NSX: Again super car boring super car but nonetheless
308/328 maybe a 348(havent checked prices in a while): Its a Ferrari what more could you want
Faster:
Turbo-Dodge: Dont laugh
Miata: Just keep turning
5.0 Mustang: I dont like them but cheap and cheaper to make fast
and so on

A stock Lancer is ahead of us. Not the special one (which also is), but the lamest one you can buy.

The choices are all based on 2009 production year models with an MSRP of $20K or less. So while a 2004 350Z can be had for less than $20K, it, and so many other good $20K options aren't on the list (and a stripper Mustang 6 is just over the limit).
Based on the cars that ARE on the list, the Mazda and Mitsus are the quickest, even though they aren't as much fun as a stripper Cooper. I can't go for a Mitsu, but the Mazda is fair competition to the Cooper. For me, the MINI line pulls away from the pack when you start compressing the air before the intake....

Ugh. I had one of those as a rental... there was NOTHING quick about it other than how quickly I realized it was a really crappy car.
Well that was a fun 20-minute break! And 100 votes later, MINI is enjoying a comfortable lead, having put up at least 150 nearly unanswered votes - at least until the Mitsubishi vote stuffer returns...
Fortunately they're at a disadvantage, as they apparently feel the need to vote BOTH Lancers ahead of the MINI. That doubles their workload, and there can't possibly be as many of them as there are of us. Seriously, if there were that many Lancer lovers, we'd see people approaching Lancer drivers all the time, asking them about their cars.
Keep voting, guys!
