This has got to be the best car ad ever.

 

Makes me think of when they built the Alliance here. Proof that car of the year means nothing.

 

Yes, the Alliance was a lousy car but the R18I Sportwagon was a gem - I had my '81 for seven years.

My favorite car ad is still the G8 Spy Hunter ad though.

 

Typically, most car ads make me want to be the driver that participated in the ad. Not this one, though...

 

My father had a AMC (Renault) Alliance. My brother and I used to joke about how turning off the A/C was like enabling the supercharger. I think it must have had about 1 or 2 HP. That car was a complete dog. My dad had this thing about dogs for cars: AMC Rambler, AMC Hornet, AMC Gremlin, AMC Hornet Wagon, AMC Renault Alliance. As smart as he was (a biostatistician) he sure was dumb about cars. My brother and I had as our first 4 cars together: MG BGT, Saab (his) and VW Super Beetle, Datsun 240Z (mine).

 

Hey, AMC made some badass cars. Before 1972, anyway.
