It is kind of odd... but not that far fetched, really. Looks like they mashed a MINI and an old mega bucks luxury car together.

It's called the Mini ACV30. It was meant to be an early preview of what became the R53 and family.

Looks like BMW took a number 2 and called it a Mini concept...

Yeah it was one of the concepts for the new MINI, of course as we all know it was not the winning design, but it is interesting nonetheless. You can read some more about it here, as well as see a couple of the other ones.

I saw that car in person at the NY Museum of Modern Art back around 1998 or 1999. At the time they also had a Audi A1 and a Fiat Multipla on display.

They also have in their permanent collection, a 1990 ex Alain Prost Ferrari Formula One car, a vingtage Jaguar-the model escapes me at the moment and a tail light off a Mazda Miata.
