Wednesday is my normal day off, and I have an ongoing gig cleaning and detailing a car collection for a local "enthusiast".
When I got over to his garage this morning, I found this when I opened the garage doors.
The picture quality is kinda crappy, but the car is, well.... stunning.
It has 14.4 miles on it, and for some unknown reason, he wouldn't let me take it out for a spin.
What's up with that?

 

At least he should have offered to take you for a ride.

Maybe he's going to sell it? But with 14 miles on it, he probably just bought it.

Shame it's only got 14 miles on it. They are built to drive!

 

I guess it had just been delivered the night before.
He has a pretty sweet collection, ranging from a '93 Mercedes 500E, to a '97 Porsche 993 Turbo, an '08 Mercedes CLK63 AMG Black Edition, an '06 Z06 (tweaked to 640 HP), and various others.
I've had a chance to drive them all, except for this one (patience, Grasshopper).

 

I have to ask how you set this gig up. Did your buddy win the lottery? Were you just at the right place at the right time? Or perhaps you were the "Biff" type and he was the "McFly," and now you wash his cars.

 

Come to Miami Beach those are every 10th car on the street here. yawn....

 

The fact that rich people buy a lot of a certain car has no bearing to what respect i give it. I live in a very affluent part of connecticut, and see a bunch of these as well, but i still get googly eyed every time i see a ferrari, porsche, m5, maserati, whatever. Its an incredible engineering achievement to build a car like that, and no matter how many there are i will ALWAYS be impressed by them.

Kinda sucks you don't get to drive my favorite out of the lot though which is that awesome GT3.

 

I saw an an '08 Mercedes CLK63 AMG Black Edition last night with a DTM body kit. It looked like the car that was on one of the covers of this months car mag....IT WAS FREAKIN SWEET. Let me see if I can google a pic... And last night I was gettin played with by a white "08? Z06 and a Bentley GT with the AZ plate of "SUNZFAN". Maybe a B-Ball player?

 

Ok...here....it is....damn that thing was sweet. The only thing that I didnt notice was the vents on the fenders...

 

That is just beyond obnoxious. We never get stuff like that in the Keystone state. Or at least not in my area, anyway. Although someone does own a Continental GT around here in a real nice pale blue. But to see a DTM bodied AMG, a Z06 and the GT all in 1 night? Never happen here.

 

I have a client that has two car lifts in his garage and he keeps two cars on the lifts and two underneath.

One day I noticed his '62 E-Type on the top leaking oil into his Ferrari F430 Spider (top was down).

I told him English cars should always go on the bottom.

And the wierd thing is, out of all of his cars, I think my favorite is the '93 Mercedes 500E.
It's understated, elegant, and goes like stink!

I've got a friend that owns a super low mileage red hardtop Z3. He refuses to drive it or even take it out of the garage. All he does it dust & polish it and yell at his kids for getting within 30 feet of it.

It drives me nuts. One of the best drivers cars ever, and it sits dry rotting.

I told him that he should have bought a sculpture if he was trying to run a museum…
