Almost bought a 124 new in '79. Seems to me it had rust bubbles on the showroom floor.

That Abarth is a cool lookin' car.

Europe sure makes some sexy small cars. Thinking of picking this one up maybe in a year or two for the wife. Would be nice to see some rivalry between this and the mini on the track. Always wondered what that other unique looking small car was in the original Italian Job movie that I saw stuck in traffic.

Well, that someone would be Frank Stephenson (designer of the MINI).

I see R5 Turbo:

I see New Beetle:

Kind of a quirky looking car, but I like it.

It's inspired by the original Fiat 500, much as Stephenson did with the new MINI. Seems to be type of work he's best at (his other work such as at Ferrari and Maserati hasn't had much attention).

Check out the Fiat 500 website: http://www.fiat500.com/eng/
It is in the position of being the new "cool" car, like where the new MINI was after it was introduced.

I'd hit it

Aside from general looks I was impressed with the interior options/details when I checked them out in Paris last fall. Also they did well in safety wise, actually scored better then the R56 Mini in the European NCAP crash tests.

I like that! Except how the stripe breaks up into a strobe-stripe toward the rear. If you're going to stripe it, then stripe it.

It's kind of growing on me.

One of my first cars was a Fiat 124 Spyder - loved it - my first rag top. A few years later I had a 124 Sedan - both bit the dust but were fun to drive...

Put me on the list of wanting one. Especially with gas costs.

The latest - would love the higher hp one, but I'll bet that Abarth is a lot of fun as it is
