My first crack at lowering a car...Speed6 style

Welp, this was my first crack at lowering a car...raised the Jeep a couple inches, but never lowered.

I started out with some linear lowering springs by Revolution Performance Motorsports

These are not made to slam the car down...just a subtle 1 inch drop in the back, 1 and a quarter up front. The main part of these is to stiffen the suspension for better handling. Here's a comparison of the rear springs...

Backs took all of a few minutes...I cut the last rung on the bump stops to retain the majority of the shock travel.

Shown here all completed...just needs some wheels.

The front dropped from 27-5/8's to 26-3/4 (just under an inch)

The back dropped from 27-1/8 to 26-5/8

The results went from this (old pic)

to this...(dirty pic)

I'm expecting it to settle another 1/4 to 1/2 inch...so after a week or so. As for the results...the drop is nice, not overkill and by no means can it handle like my MINI...but at least can maintain some level of flatness in the turns.

Keep in mind though, even with the AWD, this car was not build for the twisties...she's a 1/4 miler at best. The springs help with the launches, so I'm hoping they can push me from a mid 13 down a notch or two.

Thoughts or comments?

Back springs require you to crawl under and disconnect the sway bar...didn't need it for the front at all. Thanks for the comments

Looks nice-better wheel to arch look(less blank space) Does the speed6 come with a tower brace or rear brace? Honestly it's kind of hard to tell from the pics because the first is an up angle and the second is a regular down angle-the first pic looks almost the same because of the angle-the ruler shots are more clear.

I agree with the shots...since it was raining after I finished, it was a quick shot. I hoping to get more pics later on.

There's nothing up front, but the car has 3 rear braces (2 angled, one straight) between the shock towers. While the rear seats do fold down...there's not much more than a 2x4 that will fit between them. Space is actually so small, they state the seats do not fold at all in the manual.

I wonder if you can even fit a brace up front-I think the cooler sits pretty tall and back-right? That might stiffen up the front and flatten it in corners

I don't know...there doesn't appear to be much room behind the IC.

I don't even know if anybody makes one...at least I haven't heard of one yet. Search is on!

I can see that it could work-if it's availible. It would be tight but I think you have just enough room between the rear of the IC and the cowl-nothing else appears to be in the path so a flat bar between the tops could work. Good luck with the search!

After a week of settling and some sunshine, I got some better pics. You can see the drop much better in these...

Ended up about 1 inch in the back, 1-1/4 in the front.

Oh yeah, much better angle and I can tell it has settled lower. I'm liking the sun bringing out the color of the paint as well-that's a very moody color.

Sorry to spur the mod bug but I'm seeing a drilled and slotted rotors with colored calipers kit behind those wheels- it's fun to play with your wallet!
