Autocross Anyone?

Reminder this is tomorrow (Sat July 29th)! They've now upped it to seven runs
See the track design at:
http://www.justracing.com/ggc_bmw_cc...opic.php?t=278
See you there!

Any takers out there for AutoX? I’ve been having lots of fun at these so I thought I’d try and solicit some friends!!

BMWCCA Golden Gate Chapter holds monthly autocrosses at the Marina Airport
The next one is Saturday July 29th
(See http://www.ggcbmwcca.org/index.php and look under driving events).
To join BMWCCA feel free to use me as a reference Gerry Hatcher Member # 362142.
It will cost you about $100 for the first time ($50 from then on) but that also includes a year membership to the BMWCCA. They also runs track days, car control clinics, social events etc.

Since MINI is part of BMW we MINI owners are welcome and are classed with other cars of similar performance. These are totally fun and a great way to learn about how your car handles at and beyond the limit. It’s okay – encouraged even - to find the limits.
Nothing bad happens – you spin around and a few cones get knocked over. It’s not hard on your car and they’re relatively inexpensive. Unlike a track day which costs quite a bit, is fairly hard on the car and the consequences for screwing up can be huge!

Find out if you’re mods work as good as advertised and see if you are really as good a driver as you think! All you track day people can think of it as cross training for the track. Above all you’re bound to learn more secrets about driving your MINI.

Hope to see some of you there!

I keep saying I will join ya (and I really want to) so this time, I'll do everything possible to make it! We should be returning from our family river rafting trip in time for me to make it.

Count me in as long as I get to drive a least one round in your JCW

I'm in. I had fun at the track (cost $300), so $50 sounds like a great deal!

Plus they go on every month so you can run more often!

Sure, I'll trade you cars for a lap in the fun runs at the end. I'd like
to see how they compare. I'm out of town next week - be back
on the 26th I'll remind you when I get home!

how many runs are you getting? I dont do SCCA any more because the 90 secs of session time doesnt payoff for the 5+ hours of standing around/working...

I've heard that about SCCA, BMWCCA is better...

Usually you get 6 runs for the event. Then they've always had "fun runs" at the end and you get about 8- 10 more in rapid succession with the timer running.

They do 3 run groups - work one, one to relax/watch, one to drive.

Hi Gerry nice to see you here, good job in getting Brian in did any upgrade recently? I think autoX is a great way of getting rid of the stock run flats quickly I'll join again on this month's X for sure, will probably attend the car control clinic on aug. 6th as well. Hope I'll be available for the thunderhill driving school, but there is good a chance I can't make it.
see ya.

Hi Hong,
Glad you'll be able to make it! I just got a Schroth harness and some
Yokohama Advan A048 tires. I haven't checked to see if they throw
me over the limit of AA class yet if so I'll use my street tires.

I'm also signed up for the car control clinic on the 6th. See you there too!
