This sounds like a fun drive! I'll do it topless too  No not that kinda topless you sickos! Anyway I can't do a night run. I would have to do it during a lunch break during the day. Anyone know when would be the best day/time to do it for someone who can only go on a weekday between 1PM and 6PM?

Not to be a spoil sport, but please remember what Dan learned here.

Have fun, drive safe, don't push your car too hard. Save that for the track, where everyone plays by the same rules and EMS crew are standing by in case something goes bad.

So for anyone who has driven this before in a MC or MCS, what would you say is "safe"

Exactly. My uncle had a huge wreck in the mountains here in San Diego, resulting in a totaled Miata and my aunt with a broken neck from which she has fortunately recovered. The accident was primarily a result of trying to keep up with a better driver in a much-modified Miata (my dad). The only real loss was my uncle's car, and his desire to drive hard. All in all, not nearly as bad as it could have been.

Keep your cars under control, and your driving well within your personal limits. There are no prizes to be won out there, but quite a lot to lose.

If I take this route I'd be coming from Livermore on my lunch break. Is this something that can be done in an hour? Sound like fun!

Strider, Id say no if you want to take it slowly. It is from 84 to 237, but windy and on a one lane road.

James, call me if youre down here

Two MINIs heading out Saturday 10 am. First through Niles Canyon then motor down Calaveras. Thought we should make a practice run in the daylight before trying the night. Weather calls for mostly sunny.

A couple of us (at least 3) are planning on going through around Friday 4/15 noon if anyone is ineterested. I'll be the only Mini though, the rest will be in Japanese cars (i.e. Hondas/Acuras/etc.)

Friday night would work for me. I won't have my MINI by then, but I could come in my boyfriend's Bimmer (if that's ok).

Fine with me The main reason why I want to go is to talk to some fellow MINI owners or soon to be (in person), something I haven't done and the run just adds to the fun

We'll be leaving Livermore around noon so we be going from north to south. It is about 15 mins from where I am in Livermore to where 84 meets 680 and I've been told it takes about 30-45 mins to drive the route. I'll be the only Mini in our group though unless others from NAM are going.
