RMW Bay Area Tuning Session

Seemed like this idea was getting some traction in another thread. We will need at least 6 cars and a venue with dyno arranged in order to get Jan up to SF. Interested parties so far include:

1-SharoSC02
2-Nabashin
3-tazio
4-brownflyer
5-70spop
6-custard
7-howsoonisnow1985
8-A4blur

Edge Motorworks in Dublin is one potential location, although not clear they have the kind of dyno Jan prefers to work with. I've started the thread - now hoping someone else can grab the baton and run with it.

Let's make this happen!

SharoSC02 12-11-2007 10:18 PM

This should have been in the same forum section Mini SC mods not the northern cali. However, I think everyone should take part in researching and finding out where we can have this set up.

Hello All!
The wheels have been put in motion. All parties have been contacted. Probably will be after the New Year.
Stay.......tuned.

Jim

70spop 12-12-2007 07:37 AM

Sweet! Thanks, Jim.

Hopefully not January 19th - got a winshield replacement party to go to, and I need a windshield.

jimz68 12-12-2007 07:55 AM

Seems I spoke too soon. We need to find a shop with a "Dynapack" dyno as this is what Jan prefers. Edge has another brand dyno.
I have a couple of other possibilities in mind.

Jim

Add me to the list.
Any weekend other than Jan26 (traveling) works for me.

:)

rkw 12-13-2007 11:50 AM

I'm interested -- already posted on the other thread.

SharoSC02 12-13-2007 01:51 PM

Going along pretty well fellas. This saves me a trip to LA. Now we need to find a shop that has Dynapack dyno.

SharoSC02 12-13-2007 02:04 PM

OK, I got 2 shops that have Dynapack.

1- Goodies Speed shop in San Jose, link to their web site is below:
http://www.goodies-speedshop.com/

2- Synergy Motorsports in the city of Fremont. No web site found for them but their phone# is: 510-796-3749

Hope the San Jose one will do for everyone since it is most central to the bay area. :)

SharoSC02 12-13-2007 02:25 PM

OK, so updating the list as we go:

1-SharoSC02
2-Nabashin
3-tazio
4-brownflyer
5-70spop
6-custard
7-howsoonisnow1985
8-A4blur
9-jimz68
10-
70spop
11-kmickey
12-sandini
13-Mini_Crazy
14-rkw

So far that's what we got. If anyone else is there let us know and post that you are interested.

:eek2:  San Jose is more central??? Not for me, buddy! It's an extra half-hour drive each way. :sly:

Fremont is closer for us in the Sacto direction, but which ever shop ends up working out is fine.

Fixed it anyway.

checkers 12-18-2007 03:10 PM

I'm already signed up with the centeral valley group, but I'll need to go with who is the soonest after my car is fixed.

Hey I see you here  .

tazio 12-18-2007 07:38 PM

OP checking in. How are we doing here people? Do we have a venue? Possible dates?

checkers 12-19-2007 07:56 AM

JIMINNI i know i signed up on two places but if anyone needs a tune i do. They tell me that's way my car overheated. The ECU needs some major work.

yumhaggis 12-19-2007 09:44 AM

I'm down for a tune sign me up..

mikenaron 12-20-2007 07:22 AM

Hi guys, sign me up as a tentative.. Right now I'm signed up with another group, but would really want to get this done as soon as possible..

I have sent Jan 2 emails and still waiting for a response. I have 2 shops located in the bay area, one in San Jose and one in the city of Fremont. It is now all up to Jan to start planning and making the time to come up and do this.

So stay tunned.

MINIAC 12-22-2007 04:55 PM

What are the dyno rates of each shop?

jrlombard 12-22-2007 09:14 PM

Put me down.

I've got a little farther to come, but from what I hear--it's totally worth it. Keep me posted as possible dates open up. Sooner is better— especially mid-week. I'll have to arrange for time off.

SharoSC02 12-23-2007 02:04 AM

it seems we get more and more people from the bay. For those that are not sure if they can including mikenaron-please be sure about the event. The list is open for whom ever that is able to make it. Being tentative makes it harder to keep a head count.

And by the way, this is not an official list, anyone can add themselves to this head count if they can make it. I'm just updating this informal list simply to keep count of all the posters that want to do this.

So the current head count now goes as so:

1-SharoSC02
2-Nabashin
3-tazio
4-brownflyer
5-70spop
6-custard
7-howsoonisnow1985
8-A4blur
9-jimz68
10-kmickey
11-sandini
12-Mini_Crazy
13-rkw
14-kazlot

15-jumhaggis
16-jrlombard

COR BLMY 12-23-2007 03:01 AM

99% sure my brother (OPPISITE LOCK) wants a tune (he is out of the country right now)
I will confirm ASAP

tazio 12-23-2007 09:41 AM

Do we have dates yet?

Totally understand, but without confirmed dates, it's somewhat difficult to not be tentative.

You are very right. :)

The date is not set yet but it seems as if it will be late January since Jan is very very busy.

Jan has to get his timing coordinated to come up here along with choosing the shop that he feels good working in along with it being the most central to everyone.

SharoSC02 12-24-2007 12:05 AM

OK Jan called me back today and we spoke about the possible timing and the dates. He is going to call the shops this coming week to figure out what days are going to be the best. We will obviously need more than one day due to the number of posters wanting this tune.

There will be deposits that we have to obtain from everyone that wants to have this event happen.

More info. to follow.

RCE1 12-24-2007 11:40 AM

I'd like to have this done, too

I was wondering what the cost might be? Also, Jan suggested I get a new SC belt, plugs and have the system checked for pressure leaks. Any suggestions where to have this done in San Francisco/San Mateo Co area? Getting to the East Bay is hard for me during the week.

Just as a note, Jan mentioned for all that want to do this tune to have their cars checked for any possible leaks, check their belt for any possible slippage or any other possible problems that there might be before getting his tune. This will only help save time for everyone without running in to complications and help to concentrating on the tune itself.

As for shops in San Mateo and or San Francisco, I'm afraid I don't have any answer to it as I' m in San Jose and know of a shop here in town. Perhaps there are some posters in those areas that will have some suggestions.

AZblackOUT 12-30-2007 06:22 PM

Count me In if its before the 21st, as then I am heading back to AZ. Im in Morgan Hill, so SJ is perfect for me.

JIMINNI 01-03-2008 11:05 AM

Hi guy's,

Just wanted to know if you ever got a date when Jan is going to be up there? We are having him come up to Fresno, he was supposed to be here the 22nd of January, but as you may know he is going to be in Philly for 2 weeks now. I was just trying to figure out when we could get him back and I know that you guy's are too.

Thanks, Jim

checkers 01-03-2008 11:42 AM

I'm not going to wait to long. If I have to I'll drive down to his shop and get it done there.

That would be one way to "break" in the new motor.... but I'm sure that you would prefer not to have it take a "dump" like last time!
