March NorCal MINI Run
#26
This is the details from the web
Direction from San Jose:
From San Jose head south on hwy 101 to hwy 25 take 25 south towards Hollister. In Hollister hwy 25 runs into San Felipe Rd ("T" intersection). Head south on San Felipe to the McDonalds on the left side we will meetup in the parking lot at 9 am.
Anyone coming from the south bay can meet Dennis at the Valco Shopping Mall parking lot (Outside of Sear's on wolf rd) in Cupertino at 7:30 am.
Direction from Central Valley:
From the central valley take hwy 152 from hwy 5 at Andersons pea soup. take 152 west past the lake get in the left lane and take the road marked for Hollister (hwy 156). Then take a left on San Felipe Rd. go past the junction with hwy 25 to the McDonalds on the left for the meet up at 9am.
* Anyone coming from the central valley can meet Larry P at the Starbucks in Tracy at 11th and Corral Hollow in the Safeway parking lot. We will LEAVE there AT 7:30 am.
We need to go to the park first as parking gets tight later in the day. Its a very nice ride to the Pinnacles ($5 entry). The park is at its best right now, the flowers are just starting to bloom and everything is green. There are some waterfalls going including some that are in caves (bring extra dry shoes and socks for this). We can hike to some nice picnic spots ( for those who don't want to walk there is a shuttle.)
Its about 35 miles to the park. After lunch we will head north back up hwy25 to Panoche Rd. its about 50 miles of made for MINI roads that come out on hwy 5. The route is subject to change as there is alot of storm damage that needs to be cleaned up by then.
BRING A FULL TANK AND A LUNCH YOU CAN CARRY. THERE IS NOWHERE TO STOP OUT THERE. ALSO BRING YOUR RADIOS. We are going to have the March monthly meeting at San Jose. We are still looking for a good place in San Jose to have the meeting, if you know a good place that have good pizza, beer and area for us to have the meeting. Please call Larry at 510-919-8889.
Please sign up at http://www.norcalminis.com/calendar/...sp?event_id=80
Thanks

Larry - By the looks of it I might be lucky to meet you guys a McD. A wheelbarrow full of work just came my way with an impossible deadline. I'll be working this weekend. I might talk myself into going to work a little late and doing the Cienega portion of the run with you. I guess it all depends upon when I get out of here tonight.
(3) caution points: the first set of railroad tracks on 25, a large pothole on the right side of the road about 4-miles in on Cienega and there might be loose dirt (or mud - in this weather) at the very end of Cienega just before it meets up with Airline Hwy (25).

Larry - Thanks for letting me lead the group out Cienega - sorry I kept jumping too far out ahead ...
About a mile after I turned Norht on 25 I passed a BRG convertable heading South - I tried to reach you on the radio to let you know but I was over a hill by that time and couldn't raise you. Hope they caught up - If unplanned by them it may have been a pleasant surprise.
I hope the rest of your run was as fun as that little part was for me.

DrkSlvrS: Yes, we're relatively new members (only our 2nd event, the first was the Toys for Tots run) and I'm sure that the wife is glowing over the praise of her Cooper (she reads these forums as well ). We were just running a bit later than planned, due to underestimating the time it would take us to get to Hollister.
