any events this weekend?

we're flying into SFO Thursday at lunch time for a Sat wedding in Sacramento. Leaving Monday morning. We have to be in Sacramento Fri night and all day Saturday, but no other plans.

How should we spend the rest of our time? North on PCH, east to wine country and stay over Thurs? Down to Monterey Sunday?

I know it's last minute...sometimes that's the best road trip

This is the only weekend that there isn't anything going on in the bay area. You can't go wrong going north or south from SF. Although you get to twisties faster northward. Hwy 1 north will take you to Pt Reyes with great coastal views then drive north on 1 to Jenner and follow River Rd east to the Napa/Sonoma area. Nice days worth of touring. Great food and beverages all over the place. Are you looking for any kind of place in peticular?

Id recommend Napa, and if you go, be sure to check out the Andretti winery.

There is a place in Yountville that is supposedly one of the highest rated in the country. Its called The French Laundry. Ive never been but some friends or my wifes said it was the best meal they ever had. Not really my type of food, Im more of a beer and pizza kind of guy.

Well then if you head south and are in the San Jose area, Rock Bottom Brewery in Campbell has some rockin beer brewed on site, decent food, and is "family friendly"

There's a yummy restaurant called Bouchon in Yountville (near Napa). Highly recommended if you're heading out to do some wine tasting.

In SF, there's plenty of restaurants to choose from. There's a restaurant I like called Myth. Excellent food.

Guess it just depends on what type of food you're looking for and what type of setting (fancy sit down, family oriented, home style, etc).

PS> Both places I mentioned require reservations.

For places to eat, Yountville is great. Thomas Keller (French Laundry guy) also has a couple of other restaurants that you could get into much easier: Bouchon and Ad Hoc. I recommend either. www.opentable.com to make reservations. Ad Hoc has a bar area as well.

There are so many great places to eat in Napa Valley as well as many other places in the Bay Area.

However, my all time favorite restaurant is a new place that just opened about a year ago now, in Napa, called Bleaux Magnolia. It is without a doubt, the best flavors I have ever had! Period! And I love food! I have yet to take someone there that was not in awww with the place.

It is a very small simple place, no need to dress up, but if you have the desire too, you will still fit in. Do you self a favor and swing by for lunch at the very least.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ALL!!!!!

HERE is a beautiful run going on Sun. the 4th. Lots of minis are gong to be there, 30+ signed up so far. Wish I could go, but I work on weekends.

Red Hen where they are ending the run for lunch is a a good place with OK food. Pretty nice setting to relax with a group though with outside patio.

I can imagine!!! Those roads are pretty much my backyard. I was really bummed leaving for work that morning at 0900 knowing all of you were 5 minutes up the road. Pics look great too. Nice turnout. Glad everyone enjoyed it.
