my 1st Mini...

Seen my 1st Mini up-close today and I think I'm sold, but I didn't have a warm/fuzzy feeling at New Country Mini in Hartford, CT.

After a 20 minute wait...briefly speaking one sales person pointed out, "we won't move on the sticker price (MSRP)...at all! Are the Mini's like the Saturns...no haggling or are they just in high demand right now? Cheesh!

Any feedback on Mini of Fairfield, CT?

Thanks and great forum!

You should just be happy they're not charging markup. To answer your question, MINIs pretty much ALWAYS go for MSRP or higher.

Karl10,

Aloha from Hawaii and welcome to NAM.
Yes, for most of us MSRP is what we get especially when ordering a MINI to be built. For MINIs that are in stock it is common to pay more for add on extras (dealer packs) for the convenience of not having to wait from 3 to 12 months. It's up to the dealers to decide whether to add additional market charges- some do esp on the west coast.

Very rarely will you get a discount on a new MINI. It does happen but only under certain circumstances. Usually the dealers will tell you or they will post on the MINI that a discount is being offered on a "show car" with many add ons.

To find out about any MINI dealer see the Dealer Ratings Service under the NAM Main menu. But right now it is down for updating by Mark Ferguson so it is not available. Most of us will enter good or not so good things about dealerships there.

I had a positive experience buying from MINI of Fairfield County (they are in Stamford).. Paid MSRP and extra for stripes but I was happy to get the MINI I wanted without the wait! Considering the high resale value that these cars are still getting... its still not a bad deal.

I have heard that the dealser do not haggle at all.. and getting it at MSRP is the best deal you will get.

I got my car from Fabrizio at Mini of Fairfield County. He is a great guy, and made my purchase a very comfortable one. Peter Braun is also really nice.

Good luck.. and I hope you end up with a MINI!

Prestige MINI, Mahwah NJ:

Like 1.5 hrs. from Danbury, even less. $250.00 off in stock 2004 MINIs, including quite a few MC40s. "The MC40 Store". MSRP or less. The best service south of Peabody, MA.

My advice: Do not service your car in Connecticut. I'm afraid my friend Benzamg will be in for quite a surprise at BMW Darien. Buy the car from Fairfield - they are a drop dead awesome dealership, but arrange to bring your car elsewhere for service: either NJ (Prestige) or MA (Peabody). Prestige will provide a loaner regardless of purchase.

You can ask around you'll probably find that MINI of Peabody is the best dealer in the Northeast (if not anywhere in the US). If you are up for trekking to Boston, I highly recommend it. And honestly you can order the car and place the deposit over the phone as I did...

From other feedback, it sounds if the other direction is closer, Prestige is your best bet.

The CT dealers are not terrible, certainly there are plenty worse, but MOP is well worth your business.

And yes, you will pay MSRP everywhere. Out west they get charged thousands extra. Some eastern dealers will try to force extras like Lojack on you. Stay away.
