Hi, Folks.

I have a 2009 MINI Cooper S which was purchased new by me in 11/08. I got 4 run flat performance tires with it (on MINI rims) and also purchased a set of 4 run flat snow tires (Dunlops) on MINI rims.

My question: I got a puncture in one run flat snow tire today (from a screw...how appropriate ). The tire did its job and I was able to drive on it and I got home.

I looked in my car purchase paperwork and I see that the tires fall under Dunlop's tire warranty, not the MINI warranty. Does this mean Dunlop will pro-rate the tire based upon wear and pay some cost toward a new one? I looked up Dunlop retailers in CT; maybe I should contact them and see what they say.

Has anyone had an issue in a fairly new run flat tire?

 

I'd love to hear what you find out -- it would be very nice if they did, but I doubt it: it's a warranty, not a "road hazard protection plan". I doubt even dunlop would care?

 

^ Yeah...that's sort of what I'm thinking, too. I have to admit, I'm not expecting much. In addition, my local place around here doesn't have a machine to mount/dismount run-flats, so it might be *gulp* Town Fair Tire for me. Last time I went there with my old Nissan (still have her! ) they broke off a lug nut from over tightening. *shudder*
