Central CT MINI Service
Central CT MINI Service
A question to you MINI owners in central CT - do you typically bring your car to New Country for service? I have had BMWs and now a BMW and a MINI for years and have found their service to be great sometimes and horrible others. I brought my MINI in after I first got it for a repair and they were great, but lately I can't get them to return a call to set up a service appointment. So do you suffer with New Country or take a drive somewhere else?

robn,
I've only been back to New Country twice: once for the manifold fix (free) for S models that freeze up in cold temps and the other for its annual oil change and checkup.
Both times, folks were polite, etc. but I don't really ever feel any sense of permanence there. My MINI is just a year old and the second time I went back, there were all new folks in MINI service.
I think once mine is out of warranty, I'll just take it somewhere more local (non dealer) for service. It's such a JOKE that BMW dealers won't service MINIS! At New Country, all they do is drive your MINI from the little MINI "tunnel" over to the BMW service bay! Ridiculous.
Anyway, I wish I had more to contribute to an answer for you, but I haven't yet had too much experience with New Country. I was not impressed with the sales experience, however. I think they realize they have a "captive audience": it's either them or MINI of Fairfield County.
I also have found New Country very inconsistent, however. I am really hoping it improves, but more than that, I'm hoping for an additional MINI dealership to be added to CT.

Taken from a post over on nemini.org:
There is a shop in the Milford/New Haven area called Helmut's Foreign Car Service, 203-283-4600. Helmut's used to be the BMW dealer in Bridgeport. They have opened a new shop on Bridgeport Avenue in Milford. I stopped in one day and chatted with one of the techs who happened to be the one who is MINI certified.
One of the MINI owners in Milford went there to have some work done and he was happy with the results. I have not had any work done there yet.
