MINIs Only Driving Skill School
MINIs Only Driving Skill School
Yes, it is time again for the MINIs Only Advanced Driving Skill School!
Hosted by the instructors of the BMW Car Club of America’s White Mountain Chapter, this has been one of the most popular MINI events in the region.
The Advanced Driving Skills school is designed to help you improve your driving skills and to learn about car dynamics. The school's primary purpose is to teach the skills useful in everyday driving situations. The school is held in a large parking lot, using plastic pylons, to provide a safe learning environment for these low to moderate speed maneuvers.
The day begins with a "chalk talk", where the chapter’s expert instructors explain vehicle dynamics, the techniques students will be taught, and summarize the exercises for the day.
Students will spend half the day on a skid pad and figure eight course, learning about understeer, oversteer, steering with the throttle, secondary effects, "the line", and power-slides.

The other half of the day is devoted to accident avoidance braking. Learn how to control your MINI in a straight line (when the ABS brakes can be felt in your pedal) as well as when emergency lane changes are required. All in a controlled environment at no more than 40 mph.

At the end of the day, you will get to put together all the skills you have learned, through numerous fun filled runs through our Autocross course. Driving in first and second gear, students demonstrate braking while turning, countering oversteer and other techniques by navigating through this challenging and fun course.

These basic building blocks are key to learning how to bring you car under control, to prepare you for when the unexpected happens.
When: Saturday June 6th, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Where: New Hampshire Motor Speedway parking lot, Loudon NH
Cost: $85 per driver
