Aloha guys, my name is Justin I am originally from Brooklyn. Out here in Hawaii now... I am a motoring advisor at MINI of Hawaii. Just wanted to let everyone know that we have cars in stock here....with no dealer mark-up...I figured I would let everyone know that because I just sold a MINI to a gentleman in Manhattan and he said that availability and dealer mark-ups were a problem...if you have any questions please email me justin@bmwhawaii.com or call me 808-479-9430...Mahalo Justin

Only problem is, I expect that dealer mark-up would pale in comparison to the cost of buying a car in Hawai'i, putting it on a boat, and shipping it to the mainland.

I shipped cars from Long Beach to Hawaii back a few years ago and with the high mark-ups the SoCal dealers are getting you would save money buying in Hawaii at MSRP and paying the shipping to the west coast.

But NY/NE, where we have people flying in from AZ to purchase MINIs at our great priced dealerships???? Why target us?

Plus that's like shipping the car the whole way round the world. After it's trip from Cowley.

Question for esoteric: Can we get it delivered here before it gets to hawaiii? That would make my lil diatribe kind of pointless, but msrp is msrp.

Justin, just thought Id let you know that if you plan to advertise your inventory you might wanna think about becoming a sponsor. I believe Mark and David prefer that way rather than in posts. Good luck in Hawaii! Motor on.

Ship the car to the west coast and buy a plane ticket if you want to save on shipping. And I doubt if any west coast dealers would be willing to perform a courtesy delivery for a dealer in Hawaii that is undercutting their market on the mainland.

Shipping the car from Hawai'i to Cali
plus
Airfare from east coast to Cali
plus
Driving 3,000+ miles to get the car home

What kind of markups are we trying to avoid here?

Anyway the guy is posting in many other regional forums, so he's not exactly "targeting" us.
