Mini service dept. quoted $458 to replace speakers

Just throwing this out there...

My local Mini dealership / service dept wanted $458 to replace the 4 door speakers ('13 CMS, standard Boost audio), with me providing the parts. That's $100/hr, and the time required to remove and replace all 4 door panels. Ugh.

I passed, but still not sure where I can have audio work done on my CMS that won't leave me with squeaks and rattles in my door panels, and a voided audio system warranty.

just go to a good local sound shop. ask around, there's got to be some.

if you replace your speakers, there is no warranty from mini anyway so i'm not sure why that's even a consideration.......

I replaced the front door speakers on my 2012 All4S today with a pair of Polks. Took about 20 minutes per door including soldering the wires to the new speakers. Sound is much improved. I don't really care about the rears since no one ever sites back there, I wanted better highs in front. Just takes a set of plastic trim removal tools you can get at any Pepboys and a t20 screwdriver. Just take your time and watch that the other wiring looms in the door don't get disconnected or pinched.
