Navigation & Audio Nav "lost" some of its color
Nav "lost" some of its color
Hello to all.
I am NOT as much of a electronics and tech guy as most of you here, and I have a issue / question ..
I have a '03 with OEM nav, it is DVD based and I am running a fairly recent version.
Just last week I "lost" some color (RED) in the screen
All function seem to be fine bit just like a projection TV it seems the RED is gone.
The display seems "ok" but the areas that were red before anre now black.
Is this a symptom of eminant failure or a programing issue ?
How concerned should I be ??
Thanks for any info

That's a good way of looking at it. The Nav LCD screen has red, green, and blue pixels (like the separate color projectors in a projection TV) and a color image is created by combining the primary colors. The red component in your screen has stopped working. Either a connection is broken and your screen is no longer receiving the red signal, or the screen itself is unable to display the red component. In any case this is very likely a hardware problem. I'm not sure there is anything you can do besides have a dealer work on it. I hope you are still under warranty. The fix will probably involve replacing the screen, or replacing the Nav computer.
Edit: one thing you can try doing is to re-seat the connections at the screen and the Nav computer. However both of them are a bit of a hassle to access.
