Nuvi 350--Beware of Reset Button!!
So it happened to me. Ugh. I was sitting in the passenger seat of my MINI--and was adjusting my Nuvi 350-since it faces the driver--I removed it off the mount, and somehow I pressed the reset button on the back near the antennae!
You know what happens when you do?
Your entire Favorites is erased and the whole Nuvi preferences and settings are reset back to factory.
Worst of all, I don't think there is any way to backup the favorites on to my 4GB SD card to have prevented this loss, is there???
So I if you haven't used the Reset Button yet, be extremely careful---I lost probably 50 addresses of clients homes that I've been to over the past year plus favorite destinations that I thought were safe in my Garmin.

Doh!
I don't know of a way to backup favorites - though there might be if you connect the unit to your PC and browse it - those might just be in a file somewhere on the unit's filesystem...

Ug, that is an awful PITA - you have my sympathy OG.
They really should recess a button like that, something like on a Palm or hidden, so it can't be pressed by accident. Someone fell asleep on the UI/design panel it seems

Thanks everyone. Eval, I totally agree. This should be one of those buttons that you need to press with a pin, while rubbing your tummy with one hand, and saying aloud in a chant "RESET" "RESET" "RESET" for 20 seconds, and then it STILL should provide you with an "Are you sure you want to erase the entire memory never to be retrieved again?? Yes or No"
Hey Blimey
For some reason I've never been able to browse my Nuvi from my laptop. Must be a driver issue--or lack of installing one, lol. I forgot the reason, I ended up just browsing the 4GB memory card--but of course that doesn't do anything if the Favorites aren't on it. LOL.
Can anyone confirm whether you can find a Favorites Folder on the Nuvi when connected to their computer??
Btw, this is OT, but I'm gonna list a couple of gripes.
The MP3 player shouldn't be in the Travel Kit---it takes way too many key presses to get to it from Map Mode. How come they don't have a button that lets you switch back and forth from MP3 player to Map View mode?
Is it possible to get rid of everything in the Travel Kit besides the MP3 player?? I don't want/need the Language Guide/Travel Guide/SaversGuide
What's up with the repeat button??? When I play by album, there is no way to get a song to repeat. What are the two button to the right of the player? One has an arrow going in each direction, and the one above looks like a repeat button.

Well I just learned something new today. It helps to use the USB cable that comes with the Garmin and not an generic mini usb cable! I wasn't able to get my laptop to talk to my Nuvi 350 until I plugged in the cable that came with the unit and Voila! Now I can connect.
Hmmm, I still don't see any favorites in the directory though.
I did find out that my unit has a new update--I was running Map ver 3.50 and there's been an update in November for 4.30. Guess I'll find out what's new. It does mention the favorites may be lost during the update though.

Ok, so now I understand the value of instruction manuals!!! LOL. I didn't know about this info until I actually was able to access my Nuvi on my laptop--then I found the PDF instruction guide.
It says that you can switch back and forth from Map to Mp3 by pressing the power button quickly!
Also didn't realize there was a world time clock or calculator, lol. Geesh.
