I have ordered the TomTom and just recently saw the I5. It is really small which I like but was wondering if it is too small to be useful. Has anyone had experience with both of these products? If so could you please give me some insight into the differences, maybe pros and cons? Forget about the obvious stuff like bluetooth & size, just looking for info into the ease of use, visibility etc. Thanks!!

 

garmin apparently has better maps of the us at the moment.
if tomtom ever gets around to releasing updated maps,
the balance might shift in that direction.

 

In general TomTom has a better interface, easier to use, more "neat" features. But Garmin's maps a definitely more accurate and detailed depending on your area. The best advice is to go to a store and try both and see how you like them.

 

I live in the bay area and my TomTom has never had a problem with the maps, but when I first turn it on it takes a couple minutes before it gets service, which is kindof annoying.
