Funny email I got from NavTeq

Got this email from Navteq. I'm thinking drop the price and fix the road bugs in my area rather then sending me spam.

"Oh sure, you take care of the essentials. You’ll give me gasoline. Get me serviced. Pump up my tires.
But when it comes to keeping my BMW navigation system update to date, it’s like I don’t exist.
Every year there are new roads, new routes and new points of interest. Other owners buy their navigation system new map updates every year to keep them up to speed with all of this – but I have to make do with yesterday’s news.
If you value what we have together, please take this opportunity to visit www.navteq.com or call 1-888- NAVTEQ9 (1-888-628-8379) to order a new update.
New map updates are available for only $199 and contain updated coverage across the United States and Canada.
Can you think of a better way to get us back on track?

I got the same email. I have the CD based system. I am assuming that the price in my case is per disk, as it has always been. I can buy an entire GPS system for the price of entire country coverage.

Map updates for $199?? I got a full upgrade (software and maps) for my PocketPC GPS for an upgrade price of less than half that!!

I like the integrated look of the factory GPS, but NavTeq just makes me never want a factory nav in *any* vehicle I ever own. Especially with an email like that one.

Any chance of BMW selling the updates at a reduced price? (I think I already know the answer to that though... )

I think it a tongue in cheek ad. I find it humorous.

I send one back and say for that moeney I would like to know what areas are updated and which are not. In Fayetteville I'm sick if seeing...correct guidance not possible...

I Think It Funny That In 1 1/2 Years That This Is The First Time I've Heard From Navtec, Even Though I've Visited Their Website Many Times. 200$ For A New Dvd? Will It Cure " Correct Guidence Not Possible"? Or System Lockup?

Greatbear its $129 for a single CD and $199 for the 8 CD set, I ordered the 8 CD set, they have always priced the CDs this way.
I agree that the BMW nav system leaves a lot to be desired, the family Acura MDX nav is so much better
