I just installed the Icelink plus (firmware ver. 2b2) on my 06 with the HK upgrade no NAV. I figured out how to get the text to work on the head unit....that's good. And although the sound is pretty good, I want to tweak on the tone controls on the head unit. Icelink won't let me. Bass, Treble, etc are all running at a flat '0'. I cannot access the EQ presets. I turned the Ipod EQ to 'off' and that didn't help. Am I missing something? Are these controls disabled as long as Icelink is running? Pressing the little musical note WILL bring up the bass and treble slider bars, but there is no way to move them. Continuous pressing will cycle through to an EQ preset, but when I hit a button to change things, the head unit just ignores it and reverts back to text. Am I trapped in another learning curve?

I have seen no info on their website about this. And after looking around in NAM, I didn't see anything regarding this issue. Could someone offer some assistance with this? :impatient

Switch to Radio and then change it.

You can change the settings while in IceLink mode.. but you have to have a very quick finger to do it!

Ok...I'll give that a try....HOWEVER....when I switch over to CD, my original preferences for the CD are there...and I have control of everything. When I switch back to Ice link, everything is still at zero.

I haven't tried the radio yet. Are you saying the radio and Icelink share the same settings?

I can't go out and try it right now. I'm at work.

The MINI headunit remembers your individual settings for CD, radio, CD Changer, etc. Because your newer HU can display ID tags, each time the display updates, it takes you out of the equalizer functions.

As previously suggested, you can either be very quick with your adjustments (BTW, you press the note button, then turn the volume **** left or right to raise or lower).

Alternatively, you can run a file on your IPOD called "notext" which you can download from the Dension website. Once run, ID tags won't be visible. You can adjust your settings as normal, then run the Icelink SETUP again and select Text to turn ID tags back on.

Incidentally, after the dealership replaced my headunit under warranty, I had a heck of a time getting my IPOD to sound right. I tried all 3 voltage settings, but couldn't get enough midrange.

One day after playing around with my radio settings, I entered an extended menu which let me select TONE LINE. I picked the "RESET" option, and immediately everything sounded terriffic again! You get to this by pressing AND HOLDING the "note" button.

Anyone who has installed the IPOD and ICELINK should "reset" your TONE LINE to ensure you are getting the best possible sound.

This is good information. I don't seem to be having the TONE LINE issue...since the sound is very clean, CD quality. I just have a bit too much rumble and wanted to back off on the bass a bit. It's pretty much the same adjustment I needed to make with the CD player. Part of the problem here is that I forgot about using the little **** to move the sliders. Hmmmmm. I hope this means I can still use the EQ presets. I like the 'driver' setting and was hoping I could set that as well.

Thanks for the info guys. You may have just saved me the hassle of ripping the Icelink out and sending it back. As I alluded to in another post, ever since I bought this ipod thing, I have had nothing but one frustrating moment after another. It seems like such a ridiculous learning curve for 21st century technology which really should be alot more user friendly.....in my opinion of course.

I am going to contact Dension to see if they're willing to incorporate a time delay or something that will give us more time to adjust. Who knows, after they pick themselves up off the floor, they might consider it.
