Not sure if this is the right forum for this question...

I had to take my MINI (with 600 miles on it!!!) to the dealer a couple of weeks ago to address the ABS/tire light/emergency lights all being on.
Anyway when I got home with my baby 4 days later, I noticed that my fairly new (again 600 miles on the car) stubby antenna was gone. I called the dealer immediately and they of course said it was there when they had it so too bad
I decided not to get into a stink about it and just ordered a new one and made a mental note to do a complete walk around next time I have to leave El Kabong anywhere again. Well the new one arrived tonight and I went out to put it in and realized that the old bolt is still in there, obviously snapped off,not just twisted off and stolen! The dealership has said that they will take care of it, but that it will take a few hours since they will have to remove my headliner to get to it? Is this correct, or is there another way to take care of this that I or my husband can do here and not have to go to the dealer and wait around half a day?
Thanks all for any advice,
Annette

if you have a dremel, you could probably cut a slot in it with a cutting disk and back it out with a flathead screwdriver.

should probably in 'Beneath the bonnet' but...

... now that you're here,
It depends how much, if any, of the threads are protruding. It shouldn't be in tight, so if there's a bit sticking out you may be able to grab it with a pair of pliers. If it's completely sheered off you can:
1) drill it and try to use an ez-out (a PIA, but not tough if you have the tools)
2) try to glue a similar sized rod on it (probably won't be enough sheer strength to break it loose, but it's worth a shot...)
edit 3) shamelessly plagiarizing from rednwhitetraitor - cut a slot in it with a cutting disk and back it out with a flathead screwdriver

Make sure you get an ESTIMATE before you commit - at my dealership a 'couple of hours' means $300!!

(edit: shameless plagiarizing)
